What's new

Aveeno For Men

I saw the new Aveeno For Men line at both CVS and Walgreens recently. I picked up a tube of the Face Wash to try out. I haven't used it yet, but will soon and report back. I've always had great luck with their Moisturizing Body Lotion. Anyone else give this stuff a shot yet? It seems like with the oatmeal it's geared more towards dry, sensitive skin. But it contains Salicylic Acid, so I'm thinking it might suit combo skin well, too.

I saw that the other day and was interested. I abstained since I have so much other stuff I'm working my way through....plus I didn't want to hear my wife say "ok now I'm sure you use more products than I do!".

HAH! Don't let that bother you. I'm already told I use more products and have than my long time GF. She giggles about it but that's about it, aside from occasionally eyeballing a product I toss into the cart when we're shopping. All the teasing aside, I do receive comments about how nice my skin looks and how soft it is (with loving facial caresses) so it isn't really a problem, here at least...

I've used Aveeno products for years and the oatmeal base is good for my sensitive skin. I haven't tried the new face wash product, but like their new after shave lotion.

Almost bought the Face Wash today. I love Aveeno lotions. The Daily Moisturising Lotion and the facial lotion (I use the Clear Complexion with small amount of Salicylic Acid) are two products I simply won't give up. I even have the Men's After Shave Lotion. It is fine, but not as good as the (more expensive) facial moisturizer, so I don't use it too often.

OTOH, I've never been that wild about their soaps. Nothing bad about them, but I can do better. But the Face Wash has my attention. I know I will pull the trigger at some point, but I like my Clean and Clear Morning Burst too much right now.

So, I'm also very interested in reading any reviews on this product.

Well, I've been using the Aveeno Face Wash for three days now and have decided to give up on it. I do think for some people this could be a really worthwhile purchase, but it isn't for me. It foams little to not at all. I don't necessarily mind that, but I felt like I had to use considerably more to get decent coverage. It has small beads in it that are intended to lightly exfoliate, remove dead skin cells, and prepare your face for shaving. I think that's where things went wrong for me. I've tried to give several scrubs over the years a shot and had to discontinue them all because they stripped my skin and made me super oily only a couple hours after use. This stuff was no exception. If you've used the Anthony For Men scrub, the Aveeno isn't too far off from that in terms of the graininess of the product, but it's still not quite as harsh as the Anthony. It's definitely in that ballpark, however. So, sadly, this stuff is a no go for me. I'm glad I tried it out though as the Aveeno brand is quality stuff overall. I think I was more the exception than the rule, and I would recommend those with a higher tolerance for scrubs to give it a go. On a side note, it is indeed fragrance free. I detected no scent at all.

I agree with almost all of this evaluation. (I can't speak to the Anthony comparison, as I have never used Anthony.) With that said, this is my kind of scrub as the beads are small and not very rough. It does the job without tearing my face apart. It is something I will definately use from time to time. Right now I am crushing on Clean and Clear Morning Burst Scrub, but there are days I choose to go scent free on my scrub because I don't want it to clash with another scent--like when I am using Acqua Di Parma, for example. On those days, this Aveeno scrub will be perfect for me.
