Just got my 51 black tip back from RE after a tuneup.

They did an amazing job for just a tune up.

Was tempted to use tomorrow but will be using the slant.

Prior to shaving I was looking at this kit and thought to myself that this would be a pretty darn good starter set for a new shaver. Everything here can be had for a decent/cheap price and relatively easily found. And as a bonus, it's easy on the eye!

I was lusting for a mild shave and, well, the combo of Merkur 34G and a fresh Gillette delivered. Three nice passes with some extra atg touchups on the chin. As I said, it's a mild shaver.

As per Royal Forest... hmm.

Thanks Brandon - I let the LOTH smell the puck once I smashed it into one of my enamel lather cups. She actually liked the scent. Reminded her of Mediterranean vacations and walking down Turkish streets. I must admit I find the scent to be rather fresh as well - exactly perhaps as described in some of the threads, but I actually like citrus scent very much.

The scent of the brush on the other hand. Pfweh!! I have given it three soap baths so far. It’s a floppy boar just like you are on those Turkish YT Barber videos.

A Simpson58 will be waiting for you when the time has come to get one , but there's no need to rush...

This being said, it's a nice brush and I just can't talk you out of the idea of getting one in the future. My copy features a scritch free knot, which I like quite a bit. The 23mm knot hits a sweetspot for me. Not to huge, not to small. Just about right... if anything, I'd wish the brush had a tad more backbone. But there's already a bunch of brushes in my den which fill this gap.
Yepp, I've every reason for being here...
