Anyone prefer cream in TUBES?

Recently been enjoying the ability to squeeze a blob into the centre of my shaving brush after it has been sitting in a mug of boiling water.

The heat of the brush immediately warms the cream and whips up a fantastic lather, I'm talking about European Palmolive, Williams, La Toja, Penhaligons Opus

Anyone else a fan of the tubes more so than the tubs?

I really like both but I had for a long time a fling for (metal) tubes, and I guess most of its attraction was due to the feel it's supposed to convey. You know, squeezing the cream gently out of the tube, eagerly awaiting for the luxurious mass to overcome its final drop on the bowl, putting the cap back on after the work is finished... Kind of a fétiche, you could say.
However, I just can't stand plastic tubes and I always shivered to the thought of them completely invading the market...

I dislike tubes, it's close to impossible to get 100% of the product from the tube, short of performing surgery on it.

I much prefer tubs, which can be re-used for all sorts of things, and you can even use them to hold the shaving cream from those wretched tubes (my preferred method to the madness, would be to empty the tube, into a tub).

With so many creams and soaps (enough to last a decade) I now only buy cream in tubes as they last much much longer. I've had several tubs that got so hard and dried out I had to toss them.
Unless you only use one or two creams the tub is the most economical. If you rotate between a dozen of soaps/creams for me the tubes are the way to go. But to each their own.

no preference for me. they're both the same product packaged differently. price and quality usually dictate whether or not I'll buy shaving cream in a tube over a tub.

I definitely prefer tubes for the control they give over the amount of product. With metal tubes, you can (and should) use a tube key to get all of the product out and keep it neat.

The only SC I use in a tub is CF, which to me is more like a soft soap than a cream.

Enjoy!

For aesthetic reasons, convenience and price ... tubes are a clear winner.

Another bonus is that you are much more likely to find tubes at the brick-n-mortar level ... KMF, Cremo, Tom's of Maine, Trader Joe's, Burt's Bees, Avalon Organics, NONE of these are available at all in the tub format.

Personally I think metal tubes are pretty cool, for some reason when I use them with a Tube key I get kind of an old-school vibe from the experience.

Max made an excellent point that I'd never considered, it seems that if my rotation/ collection were to become large enough that there was a big lapse between uses, I'd probably opt for tubes. Cream has less exposure to air then that in a tub, so I'd bet they're considerably longer lasting in tubes.

That said, I think tubs just look a lot cooler:001_smile

i like the ease of use of the tubes but you get a better deal price wise with the tubs and way better selection.

I like tubes for a sanitary reason. Easy to get the cream out without contaminating it. But then, I would contaminate my cream with... mmm... myself...

Tubs are great as they usually have much more cream than a tube and it becomes cheaper.

I use both tubes and tubs, and I see lately a drift towards the tubes. For traveling I have a couple tubes in my kit. Personally, I do not see an issue with contamination of a tub because I remove the cream with a little ice cream spoon.
