Any soap reformulations better when tallow was removed?

Has there ever been a reformulation of a shaving soap that was better when tallow was removed or placed further down the ingredients list?

In my personal experience no, and the general opinions of this forum would say no as well.

I can think of no better example that the latest offering of Pens's English Fern - yuk!:thumbdown

Not that I've heard of. I've never tried Trumper's Tallow, but the non tallow was utterly disappointing. Most of the reforms sound the same.

I'm not sure that people who are besotted with the pre-reformulated product are impartial enough to pass judgment on the reformulated one. Also the goal of a reformulation is not always to make the product 'better'; there are other issues at work here, the least of which is that the shaver and the producer have conflicting goals when it comes to a soap.

I have never heard of a product getting better with reformulation, and in the case of Williams each re-formulation has made it progressively worst, until the current un-usable formulation.
