40's Style SS Black Tip

Just picked this puppy up at an antique shop yesterday. It has an X2 date, is very shinny and a magnet sticks to the handle so it's steel. I've never seen a 40's style with a black tip. Are these things very rare?

I have one! Can't be very rare if I do have one. Mine's the non-aluminum one. I like the razor, but the twist knob can be hard to move with wet hands.

Well, only produced for two years, and I think the standard version was produced those years also. That being the case, they are at least sort of rare, right? (Everything is reletive).

I have a really clean '51, mine has an aluminum handle. It was my first '40's style Super Speed. Going to shave with it for the first time next week .

Well, at the very least, it does look cool! Most any razor I can get for under $5 is a bargain, especially a 40's style SS in great shape. Thanks for info guys. I'll shave with it once I get though my 'week of 1912' commitment. Still love the 1912!

Actually what's rare is finding a '51 super speed that does not have a black tip. I have yet to find one. I find the '52 is about half n' half.

Rare or not I love Super Speeds and yours looks to be in good shape. This should be a great shaver for you.
