LARGE MODEL OF A.N. BENN 1919 SAFETY RAZOR Razor is named after Alonzo N. Benn?

9 3/4" L.
MADE OF GOLD PLATED SOLID BRASS - WEIGHS FOUR POUNDS
1919 U.S. PAT. NO. 1,308,730 - THE PLANS CAN BE FOUND ON THE U.S. PATENT WEBSITE
THE HANDLE UNSCREWS TO ALL THE ANGLE OF THE HEAD TO BE ADJUSTED

This thing is crazy. Being that it is a monsterous size I don't think a DE blade will fit but I'm not sure.

A couple more pictures and an interesting take. On the top of this note it says 3-X Model. Does that mean it was make 3 times the normal size? One third of 9 3/4" is 3 1/4" the average size of a DE.

Yes, I think "3-X Model" might refer to it being a demonstration model that is 3 times bigger than the actual razor. It certainly looks cool, but the curved head is not very efficient if it is meant to be used to shave the face.

Holy Cakes!! :scared:
Gillette perfected the safety razor with the Old Type and everyone (including Gilllette) has spent the better part of a century making it worse! lol

I agree with gillettes for me it doesn't get better than the single ring.

Ya know, the curve on this thing is very reminiscent of the Curvfit women's armpit groomer. With the curve on that baby I don't see how you would shave your face with it.

This is a prototype for an armpit shaver yeah?? (Or if this is the intended size, maybe for Godzilla's girlfriend???)

i looked at the patton in question and did not see any easy measurements to know if this is a 3x expanded model. I think that it is from an era that functional models were required. who knows this could be from the uspto.
i think that they purged the back log of modles some time back. selling off what was not good enough to give to the Smithsonian.

either that or a monster project from a metal shop class...
