You will never lose a travel brus.

... but you will surely lose a nice brush if you travel with it!

After using either a Shaving Factory XS Boar or Shea Moisture Pure Badger for travel for the past 2.5 years, I'd had enough of mediocre brushes while on the road. For this week's trip I decided to take along my "good" brush, a well broken-in Parker Deluxe Pure (that by the grading wiki and WCS is more akin to a "Best"), and just make doubly sure I didn't leave it behind somewhere.

Due to a technology issue upon arrival in downtown Montreal, my hotel did not have my reservation and was sold-out for the night. The Hilton Diamond Desk was far more helpful that the property's manager and got me into another nearby property for that night, but the busy nature of Montreal this week meant my second night would be back at the original property. Sure enough, when I checked out after my first night I walked out without my Parker brush and my Maggard LE #6 handle with Lord L6 head, both of which were residing in a re-purposed vitamin bottle. Upon calling the hotel that evening, apparently housekeeping was gone by 6pm and wouldn't be back until the following morning at 8am. This left me brush-less and razor-less with one last meeting this morning before flying home. I sucked it up and went without a shave, though luckily I'd had a good shave the morning before and was only a few shades past SAS.

After my meeting I stopped back by the hotel where I left my brush & razor while on my way to the airport. Luckily the housekeeping staff had found my bottle of goodies and, after some confusion over what it was (I ended up describing it as "kind of like a makeup brush" they found it and I'm now on my way home without a major loss.

For me, the moral of the story seems to be that I'll never lose a low-end brush you deem as a "travel brush", but as soon as I take something I care more about with me, I'll inevitably do something stupid and lose it. I'm thinking an Omega 11047, Vulfix 404/405, or Whipped Dog Synthetic may be in my near future as my new "travel brush"... though I wonder if any of those would be even be too nice and, in turn, be impossible to keep up with?!?
