What's new

You know you just had a bad shave when...

...even the witch hazel burns. Ouch! :crying:

That was around my tenth DE shave. I think it might have been a combination of the soap I used and my lathering technique (tried to face lather for the first time) since my previous shaves have been much much better.

New soap? I tried Colonel Conks Almond last week and while I got a great lather it did not seem to agree with my face and I got a lot of irritation :cursing:

...even the witch hazel burns. Ouch! :crying:

Oh, dear. That's enough to get me to swear off of shaving for a couple of days. Did it burn like razor burn, or did it burn like chemical burn? Or maybe just scrubbed too hard with the brush?

I have one: ...When you can taste your own blood . (I have a place that I almost always nick on the right part of Cupid's Bow. REALLY ticks me off, especially since it bleeds so profusely.

I had a bad one with thre nicks last week. I would hold the Styptic Pencil on one cut till I thought it stopped and moved to the next. A few seconds later and the nich would start bleeding again. WHen I thought I had two of them stopped, I put it on the third and the first two nicks started bleeding again. This went on for several attempts.

It felt like one of those cartoons where the character stickis his finger in a dyke to stop it from leaking and more leaks would start popping up.

When you bleed for three hours and nothing will stop it.:scared:
(Last Thursday: My first shave with Feather AC-DX Japanese straight)

You know you just had a bad shave when...

...you try Caswell Massey almond shave cream and preshave oil and upon the first stroke you realize your face is on fire!

These are all very funny responses! I was hoping people would contribute stuff like this.

To be clear, it was an alcohol burn! I used VDH soap with what might have been too much Old Spice aftershave added and the lather just seemed very dry and not protective at all. It's extremely possible that it was bad technique on my part as I was face lathering for the first time.
