YAGW Perspective

YAGW (Yet Another Global Warming) Perspective.

EDIT: I posted this on B&B by mistake. It was meant as a follow up to a couple of GW discussions I was participating in on SRP. (thus the "Yet Another") So I reposted this there. If interested, there may be more discussion there than here.

Showing the "hockey Stick" as recorded by NOAA -- as far as I know unaffiliated with CRU.

Humans are a lot less important then they would like to believe.

There's nothing wrong with reducing emissions, using less fossil fuels and embracing greener options, but I don't think that it will make a huge difference as far as climate change is concerned, extending resources; yes, climate change; my vote is on the Sun and the Earth taking care of things.

Not to mention the ridiculous industry that has been built up around carbon taxes and buying tokens to offset your emissions.

I don't know if this thread is going to last that long...

I second this motion...

Unfortunately, common sense and proper scientific data will likely have no impact on the decisions made. There is a lot of money to be made by spreading FUD about man-made global warming. If the exposure of a bunch of emails, that basically shows that the alarming man-made global warming data is pretty much nonsense, can't put a halt to the proceedings, what will?

While I do believe that humans probably have a minor impact on global warming and the earth/sun play a much much large role. If we can quit or reduce our funding of militant extremest muslims by not buying their oil as a by product of the global warming scare then, I am all for it.

Why do you think that would ever happen?

Does anyone know how much oil being used is actually producing stuff we immediately think of as 'oil' - fuel, lubricants, etc. as opposed to being used for plastics and the like?

I'd be curious as to how much worse producing all this extraneous plastic stuff is for the environment vs gas for cars?

It seems like there's fairly little research being done to reducing our use of plastics, which could be effecting the planet more than anything else we're doing?

There are probably more direct and effective ways to deal with that than taxing ourselves back to the 18th century. For example open up more exploration and drilling for oil. Allow nuclear plants to replace oil- and coal-fired power plants.

It always best to understand a situation than it is to hope a misunderstanding will cause us to inadvertently stumble into something useful.

I'm not much for conspiracy theories but, this global warming nonsense is no more than an attempt at a global transfer of wealth. Quite simply a tax on living comfortably. Consensus is not science. Don't get me wrong, I am all for protecting the environment. We need clean air and clean water. I also believe we need to find alternatives fossil fuels. We need no dependence on unstable foreign regimes.
