Witch Hazel - Spray on?

I recently picked up a number of Essential oils(after reading another thread on B&B) from a local shop and have created a few of my own WHs(peppermint, sandal wood, lavendar, etc.). When I was going through the closet to find something to put these in I found a few unused spray bottles and got to thinking...

Does anyone spray their face with WH?

I currently just poor some into my hand and splash it on, but was wondering if this would be an affective way to cover your face? Also, wouldn't this eliminate the over poor and the WH that use lose on the counter when pooring it?

Just a thought, but wanted to see if anyone else used this method.

Thanks.

I was just thinking the same this morning. Can't see any reason why a spray wouldn't work...except with some of the thicker brands.

I think guarding your eyes would be more trouble that pouring small amounts into the palm and applying in 2-3 palms.
I use the which hazel on my entire face, not just the shaved area, i would be hesitant to use a spray bottle for this.

I usually use the pour and splash method, but do have a plastic spray bottle of Witch Hazel in my Dopp kit.
Honestly, the spray bottle works better. You get even coverage with less waste. I don't know why I haven't picked up more of these bottles. The one I'm using is the blue plastic one that you find in any drug store's travel section.

I do the exact same thing. It works quite well. :thumbup1:

I did the same thing for a while when I started. Got some glass bottles from my boys at Specialtybottles.com and sprayed the Thayer's on with the atomizer. Worked well.

Larger question is: How did the Sandalwood EO work and play with the innate quasi-stinkiness of the WH?

Have about 6 spray bottles, bought on the Inet.... One's witch hazel, some Ivy club in another, AV another, and the list goes on

I spray my entire face. Just close your eyes while doing it and you will be fine. I have a bottle for most of Thayers' scents and Lucky Tiger.

I am using Dickinson WH(that was the one they had at the store next to my house) and with all of the EOs you still get a little of the WH scent upfront, but with only a few drops(remember I didn't make a large batch) it covered up most of the intial smell and once it is on my face all I really smell is the EO.

I will put some in the spray bottle this evening and give it a try tomorrow.

Thanks for all the responses.

I bought a pair of thin little cheap spray bottles at Sallys and filled one with Thayers AS blend for a recent trip. Spraying and then spreading a bit worked fine.

I started with a pour and splash, moved on to cotton pads, and now I'm using a small travel spray bottle and like it. I use my other hand palm down to block any overspray from eyes, it's a natural action that I don't even think about anymore.

I've noticed a considerable reduction in the amount of WH I use daily, due to the more efficient application.

i think it is a great idea! I am going to try it tomorrow.

Maybe instead of spraying your face, you could spray your hand, then rub on your face. This might be a way to prevent "over pour" or eye irritation. I think it might be pretty efficient.:thumbup1:

I'm not so certain that putting Witch Hazel in a spry bottle is a good idea. Remember Witch Hazel is an astringent, so getting a bit of over spray in your eyes is going to prove to be very unpleasant...

I have some in a spray bottle; it works like a charm.

In all honesty, if you can't do this without spritzing yourself in the eyeball, you probably shouldn't be using sharp objects around your face in the first place.

I used to splash, now I spray. I prefer the spray because it is more economical.
I picked up some small bottles from the Container Store and I haven't looked back.

I've always just poured and splashed the witch hazel, I use it after every shave, but I've never thought of using a spray bottle. I'm going to use one now though. As long as you keep your eyes closed while spraying I don't see any problem. Thanks for the mention. :thumbup1:

That's what I do. I have a travel atomizer that's about the size of my thumb, into which I decant my witch hazel. I spray one hand about 3 times, then rub my hands together and apply the witch hazel to my face. My bottle of witch hazel should last about, oh, I don't know... forever. There's no waste whatsoever, and it's great for travel.

I decanted some of my WH into a small (25ml) spray bottle the other day. Works really well...mine gives a fine precise spray so it was straightforward just to spray my neck and jawline, then rub any excess across my face. Went nowhere near my eyes
