Winter Scents

Gents:

I am seeking advice and recommendations on winter scents for soaps, creams, aftershaves, and colonge. I am about 6 months into wetshaving/scent wearing. I currently use lime scented cream/soap and Tom Ford or D & G colonge.

Lime is a classic summer scent and I have just packed mine away to make some more room in the cabinet (den). For the coming cooler season, I have Sandalwood, C+E Sienna, Tabac, Rose, Arlington and quite a few others ready.
What scents do you know and like? Do you have the possibility to try things out?

I normally associate the cooler months with woods and spices so I'll gravitate (especially with fragrances) to items more in that vein. Anything dealing more with incense, spices, leather notes, some sweet notes, pine, musk, cedar, smoke, etc...

As far as specifics, my soap rotations will normally stay the same. I don't rotate soaps/creams in and out so much with the passing of the seasons.. Same with aftershaves although I will lean more heavily toward things like Trumper's Spanish Leather, Tabac, Pitralon, AV Musk...

Some fragrances that I use more in the fall/winter than at other times are Bois D'Argent & Dior Homme by Christian Dior, Avignon by Commes des Garcons, Dirty English, Presence by Mont Blanc, Feuilles de Tabac by Miller Harris, John Varvatos, Czech & Speake No.88, Gucci Pour Homme, Creed Royal English Leather, Art of Shaving Sandalwood, Nicolai's Patchouli Homme, Crabtree & Evelyn Sienna & Pierre Cardin Pour Monsieur.

I like incense notes in the Fall and Winter. I really like L'Artisan's Passage d'Enfer. It smells of lillies on top with white musk and heavy frankincense and myrrh notes in the dry down. It reminds me of an old cathedral at Christmas time. For less than half the price, I also enjoy L'Occitane's Eav des Bavx. It has the same incense notes but is less "dark" which I relate to the sweeter vanilla tones that show up on dry down.

Thank you for your replies. I now have at least some direction and products to try. I am glad to hear that Tabac is a good winter scent, as I've been wanting to try it out, but I've been hesitant as i have no idea what it smells like.

To answer Djh's question: I don't really know what I like. I know that I like lime/citrius, but I understand that these are more for the summer. I currently have D & G colonge as well as Tom Ford. I like them both, but I feel that they are cooler scents.

To put it into perspective, the only non-good creams/soaps I've tried have been lime, and prior to the Tom Ford/D & G colonges I had the same bottle of Cool Water for eleven year. I can smell any products that can be found at Macy's, Nordstrom, Sephora, or Sax as I have those stores close by.
