Who makes a heavy razor?

Got a really nice shave on sunday from a Parker 98R, though it left my neck a little raw on monday night's shave (blade, angle, lather, new razor... too many variable to blame it on any one thing).

Right now I've got an old tech head loaded up for tomorrow night's shave (and bought 2 more techs off ebay ) hoping that the milder head won't be as bad.

What else is out there with a long handle and some decent weight to it?

Merkur has a few 34hd, 38c barberpole, and a few more.

You can try to see if the head of the tech fits on the handle of the 98r.

or any 3 piece handle that you want on most any head, the threads are usually the same, and there are some here who make custom handles.

The Merkur Futur - Long, thick handle, 4 oz. + weight, and adjustable....if you get one, keep it away from those Techs for their own safety

Futur, hd, aristocrat all nice meaty razors with a nice weight.

The Edwin Jagger Chatsworth, both the unlined or the lined handles. I have not had the chance to weigh them, but I think my Futur feels slightly heavier.

To get a heavier razor you would have to get Cooncatbob to make one of his Mastiff handles on a EJ head. The heads are available seperately through The English Shaving Company. It might be more cost effective to just buy one of the razors to get the head for acustom razor.

Both the Merkur Futur and Vision have heft and are well balanced.

If you want something vintage, there is the Gillette Big Fellow. The Lady's Gillette has a long handle, but it most likely lacks the weight you want.

I have a Merkur Futur that is the heaviest razor I have in my rotation. The Futur is big but nicely balanced.

The Merkur "barber pole" models are quite heavy as well as the Futur.

This weighs about a metric ton....and is a wopping 8" long....It's my head shaver...The head is a Pomco slant. I LOVE it! (not as purdy as CCBobs handles!!)

the 98R is 4.3oz and is significantly heavier than the 38c, 12c, 39c. 4.3oz = 122grams. It is lighter than the chatsworth. and about the same as the futur and the vision. i like my 98r, but not i reckon you can't equate shave quality with weight alone (stating the obvious)
