Which Semogue brush is the best bang for your buck?

Hey guys,

I am trying to get a new brush, and have heard a lot of great things about Semogue. Can someone recommend me one which is a great "value" brush (and perhaps provide a link)? I just can't afford some of their $50+ models but have heard excellent things about their lower-tier models. Just for background, I currently use a Parker silver tip which is beginning to lose its hair nowadays at an alarming rate. I think it's time to move on...

Thank you all, gents!
Mike

Oh shoot, I just realized this should have been posted in the Shaving Brush forum. Sorry, mods! Please move at will.

I only have a 1305, but i love it and use it quite a bit. Just be careful to keep your handle above water if soaking is part of your routine.

I bought the Badger & Blade Essential Boar by Omega from West Coast Shaving and I love the thing. In fact, I have a Semogue 620 on order that should be here tomorrow so I can rotate with my B&B to give each a chance to fully dry out. The B&B is only $20 and the 620 is $22 not counting shipping. Do some searching and I think you'll find an affordable boar to meet your needs. The B&B seems to well received by both face and bowl latherers.

Oh, I forgot that the B&B is sold out but they should have one in a new color in the next few weeks if you aren't in a hurry.

Semogue 1470 Boar bristle, White Best 90% tops. Excellent backbone, very soft tips, after the break in period. Ideal size for face lathering at 8.95 euro, thats approximately with todays rate $ 11.90!

I have the 1305. All the paint is pretty much gone (didn't take the proper precautions once it started) but the wood is in good shape, and more importantly, the bristles are well broken in, really soft, with great backbone. I've been thinking about getting the 2000 myself.

I would say the 830, although I haven't tried it yet. The acrylic handle should should hold up better than the wood for a few dollars more. I did try the bargain-price 1470 but it's way too stiff at that loft unless you really like a scrubber.

I'm saying the 830... with their very best "90% Tops" knot and acrylic handle that will stay looking sharp for many years it is the best $20~$25 you can spend on a boar brush.

You know it! I like my inexpensive 1438 but that 1470 has got to be the best deal going.
