Whats your thoughts on ogallala bay rums?

So gents whats the consensus on ogallalas bay rum after shaves. I've recently fell in love with bay rum after getting a bottle of the captains. I'm super curious about the various mixtures ogallalas has. That bay rum and sandalwood sound awesome!

I like the extra strong. They also have a cool old style apothecary type bottle, with glass stopper that is worth having.

People generally seem to like the stuff. I bought their sample pack which seemed reasonably priced. I'll post back after it arrives.

Good mild BR with a nice variety of flavors. WH base and oils makes for a soothing AS. Their cologne is a bit stronger and has a nice scent. Can't go wrong for the price. I like the room freshener also.

My favorite aftershaves, along with Captains Choice Bay Rum. The Ogallala "bonanza" (sample) pack is a good place to start. While the Bay Rum is my favorite, I like them all. The Bay Rum and Sandalwood has the strongest and longest lasting scent of the 4.

Disclaimer: I admit to having a small Ogallala AD.

LOVE IT! Regular and lime/peppercorn. After a 3 pass and touchup, it burns me like crazy, and I like that, too. I think it leaves a terrific finish on your skin, and will always be in my den. If you order be sure to get the trial cologne for $1. Great way to try a different variety, or get a little extra on the cheap.

One of my top BR aftershaves. Cedar and Sage is a good fall / spring scent. Lime is good in the summer months. Sandalwood is great for holidays. Plain ol' Bay Rum is good anytime. I prefer Captain's Choice over the plain, with Dominica being close to Ogallala, but I'd put it in the number 2 or 3 spot in my selection. (Captain's Choice, Ogalalla, Dominica, Krampfert's, Layrite's No. 9, Masters, Gilbert Henry Balm).

Really?

Pinaud (any of them) burn the snot out of me, even 48 hours after shaving, but Ogallala splashes on like water! Seriously... no more burn than witch hazel.

Yeah I just got my Ogallala the other day and first use, burnt the **** out of me. Completely unexpected. Then had everyone at work complaining about cloves haha. But yeah I've used plenty of aftershaves and colognes but nothing has come remotely close to the burn this stuff gave me.

I do a mix: I do equal parts Bay Rum and Sandalwood Bay Rum. I like the scent of the sandalwood but slightly diluted suits me best.

A BIG +1 from me. Got the Bonanza sampler and first use tonight: ZERO BURN! Great smell. Skin feels great. And a minimalist ingredient list: you ain't putting a chemical lab on your face.

One of my favorites, the witch hazel keeps the burn low, and the scent is fantastic. I reapply during the day as a toner to keep my face feeling fresh.

I bought the sample pack. Of the AS's, I like the cedar and sage (+++), plain (++), sandalwood (+), lime & peppercorn...meh. The cologne seems pretty much the same as the AS, possibly a little more burn, and lasts about as long as far as I can tell. This goes for both the original and double strength. (I'm not sure I could tell them apart blindfolded, but you can see by the color and oil content that they are different.) The lime AS does not smell like fresh lime or zest or lime oil to me. It has sort of a plastic smell, and not nearly as good as the other three AS's. The plain bay rums, both cologne and AS have a very strong clove presence. I'm liking these bay rums and will probably buy the cedar and sage when I'm through with my samples.

I love Ogallala products. The BR and sandalwood is my everyday in the winter, Limes and peppercorns in the summer. Little to no burn from the witch hazel (depending on how bad I mucked up the shave), and the scent is strong. The only scent I haven't liked is the cedar; I feel like a car air freshener doused in Pine-Sol.

I like them all except the sandalwood. More ymmv. The sandalwood really revolted me, to put it bluntly. CC is a big step above, IME, too. Not even close, finally.
