Montana Natural Shave Company Bay Rum cream - I like it

In my effort to find a Bay Rum shave cream that works well and whips up a nice lather, I recently started using Montana Natural Shave Company (MNSC) Bay Rum. After using it a few times, I have to say that I like it.

The scent is nice. For shave cream scents, I look for scents that I like while I'm using them, but not that hang in there after the shave and might conflict with my after shave. Essentially I'm looking for aroma therapy during the shave. MNSC Bay Rum does that for me, with a good scent that doesn't stay around after I rinse my face.

The cream is a bit more like what I would call a croap. It's stiff and seems to have some pieces of something in the mix. As a result, it takes longer to whip up a thick, not-too-wet lather. But a little goes a long way. If I use the same amount of product as I do with my TOBS creams, I end up with enough lather for 1.5 shaves. That means I back down on the amount to something like a small almond.

Lastly, it's a good value. A 4-oz tub was $15 on Amazon.

I see no reason to not make this part of my normal rotation.

I visited their web site. Both their shaving soaps and shaving creams look very interesting. I may try it.

Their unscented cream has been on my list of ones to try.

I ordered their Bay Rum soap today. It was available on Amazon which made it easier. I'm looking forward to trying it. I should have it in about a week. Being a Prime member didn't help in this case. I'll report back once I try it.

It has arrived and I have shaved with it this morning. It lathers well and is nice and slick. It is certainly a high level soap. The scent is a little unusual for a Bay Rum. It has a strong pine scent with it. It reminds me of when I was kid and climbed in the Monterey Pine in my front yard. It is not like pine tar, but like pine needles. I like it on it's own merits, lather quality and scent, but it is certainly different from other Bay Rum soaps. It's a keeper for me, but others may not like how strong the pine notes are.
