What's for Dinner at Your House?

Last night arrived home to the smell of soup beans the bride had been cooking all day, I then prepared cast iron corn bread (I think I finally have the perfect recipe dialed in) and we put out pickled beets and fermented asparagus for sides........

We’re emptying out the freezer in anticipation of a move. Yesterday, I lucked out and had a couple of portions of gumbo for lunch and dinner. Today, we brought out a bag of barramundi filets from Sprouts. We usually use these for fish tacos. I also found a bag of tater tots so my wife decided to do a modified fis and chips. We watched YouTube and did a mashup of Marion’s Kitchen, Americas Test Kitchen and Gordon Ramsey. The meal turned out great! The tots were the weak point. They were some type of organic thing from Whole Foods. Better to eat OreIda extra crispy.

Perogies, and sauerkraut. Perogies were boiled then cooked with bacon. Nice and greasy. Gotta keep my stents lubricated.

Work has been crazy but I finally got around to making one of my wife's favorite soups. This is Ramen style rice noodles with stir fried enoki mushrooms, scallions, peppers, carrots, and fennel root. Veggie broth with a healthy spoonful of Gochujang or red chili paste. I crack an egg in the center of the bowl and then stir it in once it begins to harden.

Not being a vegetarian like my wife I decided to embellish my bowl of soup with some stir fried shrimp.

Felt like fish last night. So, I did the egg wash and flour treatment to some tilapia filets. I did a one-to-one mix of white flour and ground corn meal, seasoned with onion powder and mixed herb rub. After frying the filets in the skillet I threw in tortillas to make fish tacos -

They came out quite crispy and tasty :em2200:

Dinner last night was a new recipe for me. Gnocchi di patate in a creamy tomato primavera sauce and Italian sweet sausage. Both were made separately then transferred into an iron skillet so I could add mozzarella cheese and slip it under the broiler to brown the top. I added parsley for some color.
