My usual relaxing Sunday morning shave using a vintage Gillette razor. Wonderful, smooth, no drama, close enough. Totally enjoyable. A great way to start the day ...

Stirling Barbershop is so good! I'm addicted.

Hoping your ceiling/roof situation is quickly resolved to your satisfaction, @pellidon

Glad to read you’re feeling better, @Texchappy

Sorry to read the AS-D2’s groundbreaking manufacturing majesty didn’t translate into an enjoyable shave, @BelfastBlade Have you tried a nickel-plated Fatip Grande? They’re Nature’s AS-D2

They certainly are super well manufactured. I love the Feather company. The company heritage, their DE blades, the Artist clubs. I'd probably like the AS-D2 too if it was simply amped up a little, possibly a bit more exposure and/or gap. I'd heard some people say they found a shim made a world of difference with theirs.

Never tried any Fatip razors. I don't know why but they never really caught my interest. The price tag being quite low I was initially sceptical and I'd read conflicting reports, allegedly sine owners claimed to have some issues with plating and alignment. I have no idea how true this is. I suppose what can one expect as they are very fairly priced, I suppose.

I've went on somewhat of a spree and bought quite a few new razors in the past few weeks, many of which I've not even gotten round to trying yet. so I've enough to keep me occupied for the time being anyways. 🤭

Wohoo a BBS! They may be far apart, but they are so sweet when they happen. Especially if it is coupled with being a comfortable shave it is a winner and it certainly was. Very nice shave.

Not a great shave. Oh, I've had worse, that's for sure. But not terribly smooth, which frankly isn't a shock with this razor, which always surprises ... sometimes good, sometimes not so good.
No cuts, no gashes or slashes. Just not very smooth.
Stirling's Ozark Mountain is a distinctively different scent. But I like it.

This is the second shave with the Karve SB razor and a Wizamet blade. Another close and smooth shave. The shave was excellent. The shave was smooth and close. Yesterday I used a a large, 28mm, synthetic brush made by Maggards. Today’s brush is the smallest and oldest brush I own: a Hoffritz. not much left of the vintage Williams soap puck. This was the 117th shave with the Williams soap. A perfect shave. Have a wonderful day, folks.

allegedly sine owners claimed to have some issues with plating and alignment

Those allegations ring true. Nickel, chrome, and gold plating are generally sturdy enough.

If you load the blade cap down on a towel and double check before the final bit of tightening, the alignment issues are usually minimal.

I‘ve read the AS-D2 is a whisker annihilating machine if you get the angle right, but I don’t know if the people writing that were able to find and hold the proper angle or had Stockholm Syndrome (not unlike some Fatip enthusiasts, but for different reasons).
