Watch recs please

Hi everyone,

I'm considering for asking for another watch as a possible Christmas present.
I currently wear a Fossil CH-2464, which has served me well.

What I'm looking for:

- Relatively inexpensive: I'm heading to another country (Grenada), and I don't want to feel stung if it does get stolen or lost.
- Water-resistant/waterproof (gonna be on an island!)
- Solar charging, although I'm not sure if that and point #1 above are mutually exclusive.
- Atomic timekeeping so I don't have to keep setting it, although I'm not sure if that and point #1 are also mutually exclusive
- Date window
- Bonus: I like the 3-dial styling of watches with chronos, as that's what I currently wear, but I hardly ever use the chrono so I doubt I'll miss it.

Thanks,

- ice

Have had a timex ironman that cost me about $18 in 1989. Have showered, swimming, working, banging, dropped, even put through the wash. Still works fine. but after 21 years, I can't find a band for it anymore. Just went to wal-mart and bought a new timex ironman for $25.

Citizen makes good radio controlled solar power watches ... check those out to see if the styling and price fit your likes.

+1 on the Citizen. here are a Eco-Drive watches that I currently own. These specific models are not radio controlled, but they are solar powered.

I have that second Citizen mil-style watch in stainless, though I got mine from Amazon and I like my face better. Here's the link to the product page. I don't know if this counts as 'inexpensive' to you, but for what it's worth I love the watch. It doesn't set itself from an Atomic clock, but unless you change time zones often that really shouldn't be too much of an issue. The chrono goes up to an hour. It's waterproof up to several meters. It's been in the pool a number of times without any ill effect.

It lasted through a deployment to Iraq with very little visible wear afterwards, and at the rate its going it will easily outlive me. :biggrin1: I'd give my approval to this watch for sure. The only thing I have a problem with is the band, as it's a little bit on the small side to begin with. That didn't stop it from fitting me, but I simply would have preferred a longer band.

Very liking the legible, no-nonsense simplicity of that Military.

I really like the look of those mil eco drives. I almost pulled the trigger on one but talked myself out of it on the grounds that I don't "need" another watch.

Still want one, though.

You may have to hand back your Steward badge if this is the way you deal with your ADs.
