Unhappy with coffee mug!

Hello All
I am unhappy with my mug, not just mine tho, but all cups, and mugs.
I always seem to be burning myself on the cup, while I hold the mug by the handle.
The handles never seem to be big enough to keep my fingers off the hot cup, or mug.
Any body have a good size mug with a nice big handle, maybe even a coating on the handle to keep the fingers from slipping when wet.
Am I the only one that has this problem.
Thanks

You may not care for this design, as most tend to have a floral or brightly colored scene, but take a look at Roy Kirkham mugs in their "Lancaster" style made from fine bone china. You can find them at different retail and online stores. As seen in the photo below, the handle is a little more pronounced than found on most coffee mugs. One's first two fingers fit into the opening, leaving two fingers below to help carry some of the weight, and the thumb can press on the top corner of the "ear" for balance and to get a tight grip. The handle is flattened making it comfortable to hold and keeps one's fingers further away from the cup. The lip of the cup is flared for easy sipping and the cup doesn't transfer much heat to the handle. A nice cup to use.

I didn't like mine either, though for different reasons.

Being a cheap bastard (patent pending), I picked up a small salsa bowl kind of like this one. It has a kind of rough inner lining that I think makes better lather than a smooth bowl. Big enough, comfortable in the hand, and available for a serving of guacamole if the need arises.

You are talking about drinking coffee or tea with the mug, am I correct?

First off it sounds like you are drinking a hot substance and burning yourself? Then you talk about wet hands? I don't usually have wet hands when I drink my morning Joe and don't usually burn myself either. If you are lathering in it or drinking out of it and you are burning yourself may I suggest a more mild temperature.

I've never had either problem but the Bodum double walled cups and mugs that I have would certainly help. They might not specifically work for you but you don't necessarily have to find a larger mug to solve your first problem. A towel would solve your second problem.

Good question... I assumed beverage considering the subforum.

There is an easy solution to your problem. You can find it here. With its large handle this mug solves any hotness problem. Plus, IMO, it looks great.

Anyone know how many oz. this mug holds, it does not mention that.

I believe it holds 12 ounces to the top. The way I use it it holds about 10. However, you should check with WCS for a more accurate answer as to what they have in stock.

Now THAT is the answer! See, any problems you have, B&B may be the very best place to look for solutions.

I Can't help wondering though.... How HOT do you get things before pouring them into your mug/cub/bowl and HOW can you burn yourself? I'm pretty sure I have had hot tea and coffee at just below boiling and so far no trips to the burn unit.
