Got a decant of Creed Royal Scottish Lavender. Very nice stuff. Conservative, clean. Barbershop to me. A little on the light side...didn't have good legs for me.
It's lavender note is somewhat subdued and fighting with some of the regular old Creed notes. But it was really magnificent, stately and fresh for a couple of hours. Will have to try it again with a little on shirt.
I could see this being a signature scent for a lot of guys. Good dressy or casual IMO.
Also tried YSL Rive Gauche Pour Homme Very "barbershop" which I like a lot. Smells quite a bit like spicy Barbasol. Very wearable on a regular basis. One of the Basenote knocks on it is that it may smell too much like a conventional (i.e. cheaper) aftershave. But I don't see that as a problem. It's nice. Very reasonably priced. Longevity test still pending a regular daily wearing.
If you like "barbershop," this is a must sample.
