Traveling Heavy

Here's my latest straight kit for short weekend hops - designed for comfort, not speed. I have a smaller Dopp kit for when I want to travel light.
This - is just so I can indulge myself a little bit. I hate going places and not having 'my regular stuff'... you know?

So - here's my attempt to take a bit of Brooklyn with me.

Vintage Samsonite Train Case - 60/70s I guess. Yeah - it was originally designed as a make-up case for women.
Whatever - it fits my stuff and it's nearly bullet proof.

Inside. the round containers from Lush fit Vintage Williams and Colgate pucks perfectly.
The Fromm is just there for fun. Joey Strop on the right with some stuff for hanging it on kobs/handles, a cheapo loupe, some AS, a 24mm Black Badger brush, and a shave stick.

With the tray out - you can see the Rubbermaid container for the HH/Linen strop, the Dovo 2-razor case/pouch, and a hand-towel on the right.

Here's the side view of the rubbermaid - I swapped out the D-rings on the strop for plastic ones, you can see the loom strop toward the rear.

You can see the loom strop better here - the black box holds a Jnat with a rubber honing block, the smaller box holds the Nagura.

Just in case you were wondering about the Jnat stuff in the boxes....

+1, my younger sister works at a Lush, i'm practically drowning in those tins!

cool! hope she gets a decent discount! LOL

I love their soaps (Karma, and Sultana are my two favorites, tho the sultana dissapears waay too fast - smells incredible though!), and shampoos (Reincarnate, Karma Komba and trichomania [??]

Have they come out with a decent lathering shaving soap yet? My sister got me a jar of their Dirty shaving cream years back when she turned me onto Lush - alas, it's not brush friendly by any means. tho would likely make a decent aftershave balm :)

Yep, half off! I don't like their creams because they are unsaponified and gum up my razors, so no to that question. In regards to your ASB suggestion, they do have a good one, but its not marketed as such. Its a new shaving cream called "Ambrosia", it is brushless and goes on very similar to Cremo (but can't shave worth a darn) , but has jojoba oil in it and makes a killer ASB!

edit- also if you like alcohol free WH, you should try "Breath of Fresh Air", its an alcohol free toner that really soothes and moisturizes.

hella discount!! WOW!

and will look into the ambrosia next time I order soap/shampoo, not that I need another ASB i the rotation lmao. LOVE the solid shampoo concept too, and those tins. dang, just so handy :)

Me too. There is a coconut cream one that I have to resist the urge to eat every time I use it.

I've seen that coconut shampoo, tho never used it. adding to list :) hehe

oh and have used the Rehab liquid shampoo... good stuff but really pricy and I dig the solid shampoos so much

Quite a setup for a weekend trip! I'm wondering what the loom strop with the black leather is for, since you have rocks and another strop already. Is it pasted? Never seen a loom strop with black leather...

If there's no real good spot to hang anything on, I can use the loom strop.
The black leather was custom made/cut by Jose; it has a diagonal pattern on one side, and it's plain on the other. It was an experimental piece. Originally,, I had it set up with plain HH with his signature diamond pattern on one side.

I see. A loom strop from Jose sounds nice. I'd like to find a larger loom strop than what I have for pastes (1-1/2" x 8" stropping surface).
