What's new

Today I Learned...

I use Proraso and RazoRock soft soaps. The initial lather was bubbly and airy, thinking I had too much water. This means I’d wring out the boar brush and shake. Then adding dabs of water while lathering. Ultimately inconsistent results. Even a “pudding” consistency wasn’t super slippery.

Turns out I was applying too much brush pressure on the soap, adding air into the whip. The soaked brush just needs a couple shakes. Then, like painting, only use the tips of the bristles as you stir over the soap. Almost no bubbles and more slick.

What’s improved technique you learned this week?

I never dip my brush into soft soap. I put a little on my finger tip and either put it directly on a wet brush or in a lather bowl. I make the lather in a lather bowl.
