TOBS Avocado equal

I first used the Avocado a year ago and was underwhelmed. It was a used and wet tub full. I wrote it off at that point, but recently I have been pursuing a thicker lather so I had Phil at Bullgoose send out a tub. All I can say is wow. The lather sucks itself to my face and I can't wipe it clean with additional passes of the brush like some other, thin lathers. The protection and lubricity are fantastic. I've used probably half of what is out there in terms of creams and I'm looking for suggestions on equally well performing creams. Preferably in the TOBS line. See my technique with the razor and whipping up a batch of lather has improved a lot in the past year and a half and I don't want to go through the whole buying of every cream process again since my original dissappointment was more due to technique rather than product. Just give me some TOBS Avocado like performers and I'll try a few out. Currently using Musgo, Proraso, KMF, Cremo, Speick, NB, Body Shop. Not interested in Pens, AdP or CF. I recently went for them and besides being way overpriced they are no better and even worse for me in terms of performance. Just a case of a guy thinking that more money means more performance. YMMV of course.

I've tried the TOBS Avocado, Sandalwood, Sensitive, and Eton College creams. The avocado I only tried once. I was disappointed, but I should probably give it another shot. I am not impressed with the Sensitive and Eton, which someone had given me because he didn't like them. So far the Sandalwood is my favorite of the TOBS line. I also like the Vintage Blades brand Lavender and Rose creams. Just my 2 cents.

Try a Fitjar cream, not cheap, but if you're looking for that "spread butter on your face" feel, that's the one to get. I tried and liked Avocado lather, but the scent was not for me. Can't say I'm wild about the Fitjar Calmomilla scent either but it's more natural and I can take it better than TOBS Avocado.

Having tried them all, I've easily concluded that avocado is the best of the TOBS line in terms of lather. (The others are fine, but not quite as good.) Salter's is a good and relatively inexpensive suggestion above. Harris should probably be on your list, as well. Nivea and Palmolive, too.

Nancy Boy has a couple of recommendations, but its not going to be similar...its actually a brushless cream that ahppens to lather. Salter is also a little different to the other English creams (I don't think it utilises the same base). I'd just explore the 3T's. They are somewhat similar and your best bet for an Avocadoalike.
ps there are quite a lot of comparisons of Avocado and Trumpers Coconut Oil.
pps I really like teh TOBS Lavender in terms of latherability. It has a simple Lavender scent and, if you like that, would be my recommendation.

If you really want to stay with TOBS, shavingessentials.biz (john.crissman) has a sampler pack, I think 11 TOBS creams for $20. Or shoeboxshaveshop.com has an a la cart selection of samples.

I'm tried a lot of creams and there really is no equal as far as the texture of the lather goes. The closest thing I've tried is the old formula Body Shop cream in the grey tub (NOT maca root), which had sesame oil in it.

There are some very good performing creams out there that work just as well, IMHO, but they are different and not quite like TOBS Avo.

I used the old formula Body Shop for quite a while and liked it very much. It was in a tan tub and had a funky banana like smell. I also have the Maca Root now and you're right in that it's not the same, but I do find that I get a better shave from it than I do many other high end creams. GFT for example, but that's just me.

I had the exact same experience with my GFT samples a while ago. I think it may have to due with the age of the samples. Not sure, but I've used GFT since then from tubs and still only mediocre performance for me except Coconut oil which was pretty good. I might revisit that one.

TOBS avacado is a great cream. Dr. Harris Arlington is one of my absolute favorites and a contender with the avacado for top spot. I like TOBS Mr. Taylor and St. James (the St James scent is just average).

I've used Trumper's Lime and Almond and was incredibly underwelmed.
