What's new

the fatip

for about the last 6weeks i have been using safety bar tto razors like the aristo 66, gillette slim,58 rocket and slim adjustable, last night i decided to give the fatip an outing, you forget how close a shave you get with these badboys, treat it with respect and you will get one hell of a shave, if you dont it can be nasty, got 2 weepers, but that was from not using it for a while, being used to the safety bar razors, but what a close shave it gave me.
heres to the fatip. $razor 2 025.jpg

My Fatip was way too aggresive for me. I may give a cadet or another Fatip ago in the future. By the way what handle you got there?

I had my first FaTip shave a few days ago. I had about a 3 or 4 day growth and I loved the aggresivness of this razor! It ate up a very course beard! No weepers after a two pass shave (I was in a rush)!

That looks to be a Weber classic handle, is that right? I have used a Weber Bulldog on the FaTip... undecided what "permanent" handle to give it, if any. I'd like to try the Weber Classic on that head.

I have one on the way, I hope it's not too aggressive for me. I love the slant and the Futur set at 1.5, I'll know in a fue days

Ive tried a Fatip and it was way to aggressive for me, especially with a Feather blade in it. at the time i didn't have a Polisilver Blade, "Blade of Choice Now" but the All Stainless Steel Razor from Above The Tie Called the Titan Give me as much Aggressiveness i would want on a razor, its Perfect and Extremely Efficient with just 2 Passes.

I have a gunmetal grande and it's great, when you have time. If i am in a rush, i respect that guy too much to use it. I love that its brass inside :) It was dirt cheap too - brand new shipped to my door $25.00!

What type of plating is on that? I've read a discussion on another forum about the chrome plated heads not fitting securely to replacement handles compared with the nickle and gold plated ones

It's not the plating, it's machining tolerance - it's just on the edge, and variation in individual samples can make the difference in what fits what.

its the original weber classic, i have the weber bulldog on an edwin jagger, i prefer the longer classic on the fatip a very good match.

it is the nickel plated picalo, the head fits every handle i have tried on it well, the picalo handle fits no other heads, i wanted to use the picalo handle on a tech or gillette new head with no luck.

Fatip+Classic makes an excellent combination, whether it's the updated Classic (top photo) or the original (bottom). The slightly greater width and heft of the new Classic makes for quite a different shave from the original, IMO. I have a slight preference for the original handle, myself.
