Thanks so much for B&B and these wonderful forums and reviews. They have all played an important part in my development as a better shaver and becoming more knowledgeable about the care of my skin which feels and looks wonderful. I started in Dec 09 with my purchase of a Parker 89R heavy duty Razor. I have been quite pleased with it. In the beginning I was still a firm believer that you could only get a close shave by going ATG. My the shave was close, but my face paid a high price. I began to read the forum and reviews which helped me realize the importance of good technique when shaving. I took this to also mean the prep work for a good shave. My first step was to commit to shaving WTG for at least a 3 month period to train my face. I used the 3 pass technique, but never ATG. My face and shaving experience really improved. This past week I decided to not shave for 3 days so that I could better see and study exactly how my hair was growing especially around my jaw line and below. I was really surprised by what I thought was the growth direction of my facial hair to what it actually was. I now know the areas of my face and where to shave WTG and what shaving direction would be ATG. I am really seeing a difference. This weekend I bought and use for the first time in a long time a shaving brush. I purchased at my very small town grocery store the Van Der Hagen Premium Shave set which comes with brush, bowl, and soap for the low price of $7.99 USA. I brought the set home, took the bowl cleaned it added the soap disk and put it in the microwave for about 18 sec until it was completely melted. I then took some of my KMF shaving cream and stirred it into the melted soap then let it dry. Used it this morning and Wow, great lather right off the bat and wonderful shave. The combo of the two is really nice. I also use a small amount of homemade pre-shave oil that I place on my face while I am showering or bathing depending on my mood. I rinse my razor very good after each shave and I keep a can of dust remover to clean and dry my razor which it does a great job. I have been testing different blades and so far I really like the Yellow 7 O'Clock and the Astra's. I will be testing the feathers, Iridiums, Sharks, Sharps, and Nacets so as these are all part of my test packet. Did not like the Wilkerson Classic or the Dorco 301's. Every part of my above story was not a creation that came from myself, but from information I received from all of you on this board. The purchase of my razor, my shaving brush and suggestion of melting the shaving disk in the microwave and adding some KMF to it all came from things I read at this site. So with that said I say thank you B&B and hopefully somebody that is new like I am will read this and it might help them as you all have helped me!
