It seems a member of this here fine forum has blessed upon myself with a fine cuisine of tasty tamales. Shipped FedEx in styrofoam box with ice packs.

Tamales are not hard to make but very labor love intensive.

Marty...thank you.

Yeah, I could never commit to the time involved.

It's getting to that time of year when tons of locals here in Tucson whip up tamales and sell them on the street corners. I should ask around and see which of my friend's has a recommendation for a vendor they like.

Those tamales look delicious! I bet they tasted delicious too!
I make tamales at least once a year because of the work involved, but I make a bunch and freeze most of them so I can make them when I want some.
I've even thrown a few on my smoker once. Those turned out amazing!

They use cream cheese, which gives it a creamy texture but does hurt the flavor of the neat. Also, great tamale makers use very little masa.

We toast them on the comale in the mornings. Especially at the ranch.
The toasted/burned husk just gives them an incredible extra flavor.
We do remove the just after roasting but flavor remains!

Fridays are Fishtastic!
Hopefully the wife will be up to making them this year. As you say, they are relatively easy, but it is a long process.

That is a bit steep for shipping!!
A few years ago I paid more to ship tacos from Mission, Tx to New Hampshire than I did pies from California to New Hampshire.
I must be a lucky man. We have 3 or 4 Delia’s Tamales within 5 miles of my house.

And boy those chicken and cheese are special
