Nam era SEABEE turned anthropologist and contrarian in general sent me a note the other day.
It simply said; "INCOMING! Raided my brother's stash. Package headed your way. Enjoy! Jim"
Couple of days later these arrived.. His brother had good taste!
2 of them will going to new homes for what I've got in them. Couple of guys on the forum that Jim and I aggravate each other on have expressed an interest in straights. They don't know it yet but two of these will be theirs.
ALSO, if anybody knows of a disabled vet that is interested in getting into straight shaving, PLEASE let me know. Another vet buddy of mine and I have been sending guys in that situation a razor to start with. Both of us have a lot of razors that are good razors and that we'll never shave with. We hope to PIF for some of the guys that have lost something in the service to the country.
That big old JR, 2nd from the right, is almost an 8/8. It was shipped to a company in Boston that the earliest date I could find was 1851 and listed them as purveyors of "fancy goods".
The smallest FR is a "Washington Razor".
Took some MOTHERS to the Boker today. Shined up very nicely. Few water spots yet, but I think they'll remain for the time being.
Here's a link to a BIG picture of the pile
