Strange Liquour Laws

Well yesterday on the local news there was a story about a new liquor store being built in the bordertown called West Wendover in Nevada. Why is this important? Well it is about 90 miles from Metro Salt Lake City. And it is a giant 7000 sq foot building. The news wanted to make it very clear that it is technically illegal and a Class B Misdemeanor for anyone to transport alcohol into Utah that is not sold by our local DABC. And that after it opens Utah Highway Patrol will increase patrol on that stretch of Interstate 80. Boy just wait until the marijuana dispensary opens there soon also. You can take a 90 mile drive for gambling, booze, and other extracurriculars!

West Wendover Mayor was interviewed saying, "We approved this large of building with the expectation that most of the customers will be from Utah helping our local economy."

We made the drive from Park City out to Bonneville on 80 in the summer of 2015. I will attest that there is very little west of Salt Lake to the Nevada line! I don't think anyone will violate Utah law. :001_rolle
