Japanese Vintage 15/16 Hollow grind Razor

This time of year you just don't know what might rise out of a coffin...

Especially not a coffin assembled out of parts from two others.

Apparently HSB&Co. found some German hollow ground in Sheffield for their unholy rites. This rose up to shock me:

I'm haunted by heavy Sheffield grinds in need of resurrection. Not much hone wear, at least. The price was twice what I have seen marked on empty coffins, so very hard to pass up, even when I have closed off access to the restoration queue.

My life is not coughing up much time or space to work on razors. Maybe after the new furnace goes in...

I won the razor rescale Sue Moore auction. Here are before and after results. Don't know much about straights but this was a sight unseen I had so figured it was good candidate. I was able to choose the scale material, wedge and pin options. I like the way it turned out.

My latest RigaRazor from Sergej. Sent him a few photos of what I wanted and he made this beauty for me. 9/8” in a faux ivory scales. He provided a superior shaving edge on this tungsten steel blade. Very happy with my second RigaRazor. Thanks for looking. Austin

Thought this razor had potential from a recent score of really “problem” castaway razors I acquired to practice honing on. A fair amount of rust and pitting. Not honed anything with a prominent smile before, but I made some progress. I enjoy the challenges, with a new appreciation for the fine restoration jobs found here.

My pal and I struck a deal...though this one won’t be sent to me until a week after Election Day. I just figure the post office has enough to deal with at the moment.

At any rate, I think it’s in pretty good shape for being from 1917.
