Speakeasy Aquisitions - September 2009

Sort of an aquistion... It's my first quality pen. I picked it up from a local Stationer for about $15. It's a rollerball, with I think a medium or fine point. I like it so far .

A bottle of Hendrick's Gin. I HATE gin due to some bad experiences with it 20+ years ago (the same reason I can't tolerate Glenfiddich), but after reading some comments here at B&B I went ahead and took a chance. I poured a finger of it neat this past weekend. Excellent stuff!

A bottle of Canadian Club for my Old Fashion's and CC's and Gingers. I also became enamored with scotch after my girlfriends father poured me a scotch on the rocks so i had to indulge. So with my minimal college budget I purchased some Glenlivet 12 year. this is some of the smoothest liquor I have ever touched in my life. I can see my self being an exclusive scotch drinker in the near future.

Great one to start out with. You are about to embark on a very expensive journey. :001_smile

I was at the New Glarus Brewing Co. yesterday in New Glarus, WI and, after sampling their wares, loaded up the car trunk on the way out. I don't even remember what I bought, but it was a lot!

Well, I my Bombay Saphire had run low (always seems to be for some reason :D) so whilst replenishing that, I picked up a Macallan 18 Fine Oak.

mmmmmmmmmmmmMacallan.

Earlier today I was hand washing a couple of Riedel glasses when I obviously applied too much pressure and broke the stem of a Vinum Syrah glass :frown:

Later this afternoon I was buying some plasters ("Band Aid" over the pond) from a discount chain when I glanced in the direction of the housewares section.

A box of 6 Riedel Vinum Bordeaux glasses caught my eye

For those B & B members who aren't familiar with this product,

Vinum Bordeaux are 40 quid a pair, £120 for 6

They were £6.99 for the box !!!!!!!!!!!!!! :w00t::w00t:

I celebrated by purchasing a bottle of Napa Valley Vineyards 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon (Normally a tenner over here) for £3.99

This is one of the most interesting Scotches I have had in a very long time. It's also been ages since my last purchase and I could not be happier with this fantastic product.

Got a homebrew beer setup and American IPA kit for my birthday. I think I may have found a new addiction!

If you're anything like me, you're in trouble now.
I started brewing about 3 years ago and have since acquired more brewing equipment than I know what to do with.
You know it is really bad when you have to start displacing tools from the garden shed to store fermenters and kegs.

Good luck with the brewing! Let us know how it turns out!
