Out and owning it.

Day 28, 93.3% complete

Preshave: Hot washcloth
Soap: Saponificio Varesino Opuntia
Brush: Yaqi 24mm synthetic cashmere
Razor: GC1.05 SB, Al Handle, Astra SP #9
Bowl: Turkish copper
Post-shave: Proraso Sensitive Balm.

Used Opuntia for SV Saturday. I got a perfect bowl lather, always a good sign. The rest of the kit played along, for a comfortable near-BBS.

The Proraso feels less effective than Nivea while I apply it, but once it dries, it's super smooth and non-greasy.

Still in - DFS with a lot of thinking how to get it right

AliE Shavette, Feather Softguard (2), Palmolive Stick, Rainbow Pony, Floid AS

Hannes,

Shaving with this stile of razor takes some intense practise until muscle memory kicks in. I used my Feather foldable razor daily for FFFMM, it took me two weeks plus before I figured out proper angles more or less automatically.
A true BBS, however, still is tough to achieve for me, thanks to the awkward whisker swirls on my neck. It's become a Sunday shaver for me...

Just keep on trying... 👍
Enjoy your Sunday!

Thank you Guido that’s what I have in mind. Something for the weekend to break the routine. Also chicken that I am I will stick to guarded blades for the time being.

Why not just go direct to a ‘real’ straight. I made the jump at the end of Jan 24 and now reach for one 95% of the time, obviously not when travelling though. It did take a while to get the angle right though. Next thing for me will be honing but not right now though

I don’t want the fuss and upkeep especially caring for carbon steel and stroping/honing I would just accumulate more and more stuff so not very GRUME friendly. This Shavette I bought with a couple of others 3 years ago and yesterday was my first shave with it.

Still in and the end is in sight. For me another GRUME completed

Pre-Shave: Hot Shower
Razor: Gold Dollar 208 6/8 straight razor
Brush: QED Select 3526 Manchurian Silvertip Badger
Soap: D R H Arlington

Post-Shave: Alum Block
Myrsol Don Carlos 1972 splash
Razorock XXX ASB
Casamorati Fiero EDP

Glad to get back to a straight razor shave. Lovely relaxing and comfortable shave with no dramas.
