The thrift store thread

One of my many sicknesses is that I physically can not walk past a thrift or antique store without popping in to take a look. Just can't help it.

So I thought I would make this thread for people with a similar affliction to show of their NON SHAVING RELATED thrift store finds as they are discovered. Maybe bargain antique stores and markets as well.

What did you score?

I'll start with a recent one. A nice big Stanley tradies lunchbox to take to work in the summer. Coffee up top, beer down the bottom.

My best deals, naturally, have occurred mostly in the wild.

At one vendor at a nearby flea market, I scored an $8 stainless Mongoose B-3 AC SE razor, with box.

Same guy, $5 red tip Super Speed, $12 Schick adjustable, Schick Hydro-Magic, PAL Injecto-matic, in case.

Different places, a $15 and a $20 Super Adjustable.

Jackpot at a big flea market in central FL. A 10" Dexter butcher (stamped worth about $30) the second is a Zwilling 4 star 10" chef's knife. Henckels gets $160 for this one. I walk them over to the owner guy and ask how much? He looks for a minute and says $15 for the pair. Both need a little cleanup and sharpening, but this the best deal I've made in quite a while.

The line between bargain antique/vintage mall/thrift store/poorly organized corner of a hoarders basement is often difficult to discern around here. The single owner thrift/junk stores are sometimes better curated and organized than the vintage malls.
I NEVER find anything in the vintage malls around here. And even if I do find something, it is usually over priced. I have much better luck haunting the thrift stores, and hoping to catch a bargain that they messed up the pricing on.

Like when the old ladies have not heard of Persol sunglasses, $2. The wife claimed them once they came home.

We have some VERY low end vintage malls. Pricing is all over the map. A wildly over-priced item in one stall makes its moderately priced twin two aisles over look like a steal.

I am overstocked with tools from my past lives and vintage hand tool hand-me-downs. I also have Harbor Freight when I need use-it-and-lose-it quality and pricing. But...

Where else will I find a Sheffield or German scraper for a buck? Or a decent outside caliper for a couple bucks? Our charity thrift store goods get pillaged by insiders (and taken to vintage malls and craigslist) before they ever go on display.
