According to a Russian enthusiast of old knives, the best Russian knives were made after the Second World War. Thanks to the occupation of East Germany, the Russians began to use German steel in their knives.
This one from 1958 engraved on its herringbone is a clear example of the good steel used at that time and that still works well in shaving today.
Boy, another terrific shave. The scent of this soap is tremendous. Got mounds of dense creamy lather, pretty good slickness, and away we went. Blade started getting a little tuggy and was a little uncomfortable by the end, but the result is fantastically close and I'm feeling great.
Razor: Razorock game changer .84- Mfg 2018> Excellent razor with the proper blade IMO.(Kai SS today)
Blade: Kai SS (1) -I wanted a little more blade feel to my shave and it delivered that very well, I did read some reviews and the blade delivered a excellent shave today as other have mentioned on different threads. Felt smooth and sharp and gets better after a few shaves the fellows who have used them claim(some did not care for it). No regrets yet! Kai SS is .009 thousands of inch wider or .0045 thousands per side than a standard blade and that is significant extra blade exposure IMO.
Soap: Prorazo Green- I like to use this soap every once in a while but not daily. Good scent and protection.
Brush: Razorock Noir 400 24 mm Plissoft Synthetic- great brush and have used it for over 3 years with good success.
Pre shave:Shower, Brush wash my whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser+ a dollop of clear Aloe Vera gel on beard.
Prep: Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pick ups.
Post shave: Proraso green with witch Hazel + A tiny dollop of Nivea balm.
Results CCS,DFS,BBs + no irritation + no weepers = Excellent shave with my RR GC .84 with a Kai blade.
Brush: Semogue 2011 LE Finest 51/100
Soap: MWF seeded with Fabergé Brut in an OS mug
Razor: English Gillette Goodwill
Blade: Lord Platinum
Aftershave: Yardley Black Label
Used the new to me Carl Schmidt Sohn straight, and the thing is so sharp that although I did one and a half passes, I could have stopped after the first one, the shave was so close.
I really enjoy using a finely sharpened straight razor.
Pre: hot water, homemade olive oil soap.
Lather: Ach Brito Lavanda cream.
Brush: synthetic Alpha Shaving Rubberset 400.
Razor: Gillette British flat bottom Tech (#27 set) + Stork Darwin.
Blade: Lord (#1).
Post: Flöid MV.
Take care and have a nice day!
