Well, my new Slant came today and I was shaving with it 10 minutes after it came out of the mailbox. 
My shave was excellent. Using a new Derby, I got a smooth and BBS shave with very little irritation. This razor gives me the best shave I've ever had..... and the shave is comparable to what I got from using a borrowed Slant with a Feather recently.
It is interesting to compare the Slant with my Muhle-Pinsel R-89 which has a reputation as giving the very closest shave possible. It's true that the R-89 is a VERY aggressive razor. It feels like I'm shaving with a bare blade in my hand. The shave is extremely close but also causes lots of irritation. And I usually cut myself at least once during a R-89 shave. The Slant shave is just as close but feels smooth and easy during the shave. I haven't had a nick yet and there is little irritation.
I hereby declare myself a Slant convert and highly recommend it.
