Silly latherbowl - bad purchase

Strangely, the 4 year old creams in tubes (AOS, Godrej) are still squeezable into a bowl, and act like soft creams. All have been kept at 70-72 degrees F. I cannot explain why tube cream stays softer than container cream. Does anyone else have any feedback on this issue?
my guess: every time you squeeze out cream from the tub, you squeeze out almost all the air that might reside in the tub. Then you screw the nib back while the cream plugs the opening, closing out incoming air. Generally in a container, there is a layer of air above the soap's surface, (between the soap and the lid) which can absorb some evaporating water from the soap. And lids are not airtight. little by little the soap gradually losing the water content. the effect is minuscule and the hardening takes years I assume. Outside air is usually dryer than the air layer in the container, moisture tries to seep out constantly.
