What's new

Show us your razors!

With so many razors on the market over the last decade it's hard not to get bamboozled with choice. This is my razor block, handmade and crude but it does the job!

The Razor Block, sounds like Razorock! You can see that all the holes are occupied except for one!
What will fill that down the line?

For the last 4 years I have been seriously hit by vintage RAD, honestly obsessing to some extent. I’ve fallen into acquiring quite heavily while earnestly trying to keep the numbers down to not get flooded. Along the way I have offloaded 50-60 great razors and I continue to only keep the ones I am attached to the most and appreciate shaving with. And thankfully my RAD seems to be cooling now. My collection is centered around British and European made razors from the 1930s up to the 1950s.

Funny thing about collecting. I find that all razors are built for active shaving, and I would ideally use all mine. And I’ve actually come to feel that as I have only one face and most of my 80ish razors therefore sit idle in a drawer unused and unseen, they somehow lose some of their deserved ‘life’.

So - in order to ‘keep them alive’ (as it were) I thought I’d share them here. I do myself love to look at pictures of you guys’ razors, so here goes most of mine.

WOW..!! That's an amazing collection! I was hit by passing (luckily) vintage RAD too but nowhere even as close to your collection...Awesome, especially the first 2 pictures!

Hey, @WerewolfC what are those 'nilla wafer looking thingies that you have your razors propped up on in your medicine cabinet?
You mean that sandwich like support for the razors?
That's a DIY razor support :biggrin1:, home made from a bambus breadboard, attached with 2 nuts on the side of the cabinet.

Wonderfull collection! Congrats!
One question: Are you using them now and then? Or are just collectibles and don't get used.

Very impressive collection Peter! My RAD has slowed down also but I know both of us have said that at least once or twice before. ;)

Sorry, no can do. I have almost 100 and they are in different places around my room. Drawers, shelfs, leather cases etc. It would take me at least a full day to get them all together for a photo.

I wonder do you keep your razors in that when you use them. I would be concerned that the holes would cause corrosion if the razors had moisture in the holes.
