Shaving stuff in San Jose, Costa Rica?

I got here just in time for the birth of my first grandchild. Now that he is getting settled and used to life, I may have some time to poke around San Jose. So far, I perused markets and pharmacies and found even less that a typical Walmart. Do any of you know where a Tico would buy shaving soaps/creams and aftershaves? A couple years ago, I scored big time in DE blades at a small market in Montezuma, but that is all I have ever seen.

Thanks and Pura Vida!

Congrat's on the new grandkiddo!
I've only been to CR a couple times and minimal time in SJ.
Actually spent a couple weeks in Montezuma, nice.
Since there are lots of German and Spanish descendants in SJ, you might contact home office of Tabac, Speick or Myrsol and ask about retailer in San Jose.
Or just ramble around the downtown museum and hotel district, looking for small pharmacies.
Or search out a traditional barber and ask him.
Take care in downtown SJ, but have fun anyway.

Wow! My daughter's B&B/Hostel is in Montezuma - Luz en el Cielo. She came to Santa Ana for the birth in case there were complications.

When we first visited her there, the little local market had 5 packs of Astra, BIC and a couple other brand blades for 240 colones (about 50 cents)

Thanks. I will see if I can find a barber. It didn't occur to me in my first post, but now I can do a side by side comparison and see if my face really is Baby Butt Smooth

I lived in San Jose for quite some time, but before I began DE shaving. I look forward to reading other responses. Best of luck to your daughter and grandchild. Y claro, Pura Vida!

montezuma is a fun touristy place. her b&b should do well. but it's a lot of work, especially with kids. enjoy this special time there.
