Shaving products for cold weather!

Hey guys!

Been DE-shaving for the last month, and wetshaving since I was fourteen. But I've been on and off (mostly off) until I got back into shaving a month ago. Now I'm wondering what I'm going to use when Autumn is over and Winter creeps up.

I shave every day, and my stubble/beard is really stiff and coarse. Right now I use proraso for that wonderful chilly sting, but I don't think that will fly when the cold hits.

What do you use when the weather is cold where you live?

Please post tips for varying temperatures. Temperatures here may go as low as -22/23 during the cold Winter period. That's -7 to -9 F.

Thanks!

I live in SW Florida, so I like menthol products in the winter, when the temperature may not get higher than 78 F, some nights it might dip down as low as 60F. Right now its one of mama bear's citrus with menthol blends or proraso

Of course I use the same stuff in the summer

When I used to live in Illinois and Indiana, I think I drank alot in the winter, but really can't remember

Good question. Living in Ohio I just dealt with that question, too.

I got MWF and DR Harris 'Arlington'. Also, I loaded up on three various Ogalalla Bay Rum soaps, Original, with Sage and Cedar, and with Sweet Orange. I thought that the latter would be a nice "pick me up" scent in the midst of long dreary stretches.

Cheers!

Last winter I was still electric-shaving, so I guess I'll figure it out soon!

I grew up in Venice! I'll be moving back to the Sarasota area in just a few short months and can't wait. I never realized how much I liked the area until I left, and I never realized how much I'd hate winters elsewhere!

I prefer my sandalwood soaps when in winter... Matched with a nice Ogallala Bay Rum and sandalwood aftershave, it'll warm your soul, guaranteed!

Bayrum and Clubman Pinaud aftershave are a nice burn on a cold day. But to be honest, I love a menthol chill even in those cold Canadian winters (although I will have to look into some of those soaps listed above :])

For me, in winter, my skin tends to be dryer. I usually use balms as an aftershave. Love the Loccitane Cade ASB. Also, like the sandalwood scents in winter. Of course, I will always use Aqua Velva, and Clubman's all year round. Just really like those two.

I scored a Conair heated lather dispenser at a local thrift store while looking for old razors. It takes Barbasol cans, and the lather comes out so hot you can hardly hold it. I understand this product has been modified so the lather is barely warm now. Liability issue, I suppose.

Cella or Proraso White in Winter!

Aftershave without menthol!

My skin gets really dry in the winter so I'm looking forward to my "St. Charles Shave Bay Rum w/ a Twist aftershave Milk". Goes really nice on my head since the skin dries fast up top during ice cold winter weather.

Lucky Tiger Molle is decidedly unglamorous and not luxurious, but it is a no-nonsense brushless winter choice that leaves your skin feeling so moisturized that you could skip the balm if you want to.

It's not gonna be that cold this winter, unless you live up north.

EDIT
I just saw you live in Norway too =) It's still gonna get cold, even if the extremes from last year aren't coming back. What do you use in Winter, Zephyr?

Good tips, guys. I am definitely thinking of some Sandalwood to add a bit of warmth to my fragrance.

I just got Mühle's Sea Buckthorn shaving soap and after shave lotion for a spruced up citrus feeling which I've been waiting to check out. They supposedly extract it from plants in the German baltic region which are rich in vitamin C and antioxidants..

Got the soap in a gift set with a brown cermaic bowl and a pure badger brush with a pine handle. Also got an alum stone and a stand for the brush. These products just scream quality!

I'll let you know how the shaves go. Oh, and I'm trying feathers for the first time.. Wish me luck!

I'm not sure yet, only been DE shaving a little over two months, but I think both Cade and Tabac would be nice during the cold months.

The only item that I tend to use more when the weather's cold is balms. Everything else pretty much remains the same.

They are saying that this winter will be as cold as the last one.

But is there a balm that is better to be used in cold weather than others? I imagine that it would be a balm that is fatty with no water in it that will lay on top of the skin as a protection.
