I have shipped (admittedly) a few items to the US. Never had to fill out anything beyond declaring the nature of the item when paying the postage. Is it really that onerous a task on the US side? Genuinely curious, as many people make it sound like it is the worst thing ever . . .
Or, is it just a case of convenience?
Convenience is a big reason for me. As mentioned, to ship within the US, I can use the automated kiosk and drop it off. To ship internationally, I must fill out forms (no big deal) and see a teller (big issue for me). I work long hours and it is not easy for me to go to a Post Office during regular business hours to use a teller. To use the kiosk, I can go to the Post Office at any hour (open 24 hours) and do my shipping. I usually ship at 4am on my way to work.
