Schick Injectable adjustable. What does the sliding mechanism do?

Hey guys,

I received today my Schick Injectable adjustable and I noticed that at the base of the head there is some plastic (lever) sliding mechanism that goes up and down using the thumb. Since I have no manual, I have no idea what this thing does.

Does anyone know?

I think it was called "The Protector" or something like that, when it slides up it acts as a guard on the blade - handly if you have it loose in a dopp kit & loaded up. If in the up position it doesn't shave very well though :001_rolle

Aha, ok, I will now load in the blade and see how that works out.

By the way Garyg, this is your adjustable injector I have :001_smile

Out of curiosity, the setting at 1 is for the most sensitive skin and as you go higher, the razor becomes more aggressive?

Not sure how you have one of my razors, but congratulations!

Setting 1 is least, I use mine at setting 8

Do you use 8 as well when going ATG?

I shaved with it and 8 WTG and 3 ATG, and I still got a closer shave with my Merkur Futur for example.

Not sure about the quality of the blades I got with it. It might be the culprit.

And it seems to me that the "skin supporting bar" (the one underneath the blade) is un-evenly spaced between left and right edges of the razor. Not sure if this affects anything at all.
