Henson AL13 vs Feather AS-D2

The feel and performance of the Henson can be changed by a simple blade brand swap. Some blades are wider and increase exposure (may be good or bad, depending on your skin). Some blades are sharper, some milder, some duller. I get great shaves from Gillette Nacet, Platinum, Perma-Sharp (gold), Wizamet Iridium, and Feather blades. Notice, all of these are super sharp.

Here is my Henson AL13+++ with Gillette Platinum blade:

I have all of the aggressions, and a Ti22.

The Cella sweet almond is my daily shave soap: Tallow + sweet almond oil. Good for the skin.

The guy on the Cella says to use thick lather, but the Henson want you to use less lather.

I use a slick yogurt lather. I don't go for mountains. The only time I use thin is on a third pass where I didn't re-soap my brush and use what's left in it.

Yes. My understanding (from what I have read) is that the Henson design with a specific angle and narrow gap is not friendly to passing thick lather past the blade so it can get clogged or needs more frequent rinsing. larger gap razors do not have this limitation. It is not so much that one is better but that one combo pairs better with thinner lather. A Muhle R41 should happily glide through thick lather.
