Snail Secretion Filtrate This is now being used in the more expensive facial moisturisers because it is so good for the skin - it is also used in anti-aging products.
Propylene Glycol There are mixed feelings on this ingredient. It can be a skin sensitizer. It is used both as a carrier and apparently as a humectant which attracts moisture to itself.
PPG-20 Methyl Glucose ether This is another type of Propylene Glycol - it's other name is Polypropelne Glycol and is used as a skin conditioning agent. It too can be a skin sensitiser.
Saccharide Isomerate This is actually a really great ingredient. This is an ingredient is part of a group of ingredients that is actually found in the skin. It binds to form a matrix that holds skin cells together.
C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate This is often used as a thickener
Hexylene Glycol This is a surfactant which means that it breaks the surface of the water and is sometimes used as a cleanser.
Calcium Carbonate Calcium

Zinc oxide This is an active ingredient and you will find this in diaper rash cream (example) because of its soothing and healing properties

Cetyl Alchol This is another emulsifier and is a plant derivitive which is also used as a skin conditioner and it is also a thickener for the product itself.

Urea Originally this was urine usually from female horses but it is now artificially produced and is used as a preservative
Parfum Fragrance Oil
Alanine I had to do a google on this one because I've not run across it before. It is an amino acid and I'm really not finding much information on why it would be in the formulae.
Aspartic Acid This is another ingredient I really don't know anything about. From what I could find out it is another amino acid and occurs naturally in the formation of urea. I doubt they are using the natural version from urea and have probably created a chemical version.
Glutanic Acid This is rather interesting in that I can't really find information that is applicable to this type of use. So I have to say - "I don't know"
Hexyl Nicotinate This is an ester of nicotine and it contains vitamin B3 and niacin. It penetrates the skin easier than just niacin and improves blood circulation in the area applied. Although it is at the bottom of the list, this is an important ingredient.
Methylchloroisothiazolinone Preservative

There are some great ingredients in this product and I can see why it is so expensive. Snail stuff is not cheap and is 100% natural. I forget how they found out it was so good for skin, somehow I just can't see letting snails crawl over your face - ewwwww factor

Don't be worrying too much over the parabens. They are getting a lot of bad press and because of it most of us are not using them in our formulations, but if truth be known parabens are also naturally occurring in a number of different things. They do make the best preservatives. This product is highly preserved and there are a few actives in it. Overall, I think you have a good product there and I would be really, really interested in hearing how well it works for you.

Wow. Thank you Malaspina for the time you have spent compiling all that information i now realize why the price is what it is , i didn't think my dermatologist would sell me snake oil but it's good to have the ingredients explained in layman's terms . As i have only started using the lotion this week it's too early to give an opinion but i will certainly get back to you with any results i find good or bad . Thanks once again

Slightly off topic: Malaspina- when you say "skin sensitizer" do you mean that some people find it irritating? Just want to be sure I'm understanding you correctly. Thanks.
Pretty much. There are some really well know skin sensitizers like pepper, cinnamon, clove as well as other spices. It can start out as a rash, or even just redness but with continued use it can become a full time allergy. The other things to consider is if you have sensitive skin and you've had other skin reactions then any product that contains a sensitizer might be a good thing to avoid.

Thought i would update you on my findings with this product . Been using for about 2 months and although initially i could not see or feel any improvement, recently it does feel less sensitive to the touch. You can tell by how short this update is that i am no expert on this subject so if things change i will keep you informed but i will be buying a new bottle when this runs out

I think I've used Snail Secretion Filtrate, or by the name I recall Baba de Caracol. I used it to get rid of scars and it worked like a charm.
We've been throwing our snails into the street cause they eat or garden. All this time I should have been rubbing them on my skin. Who knew?
