Weleda After shave balsam

Hello everyone

Doing a quick review of this awesome after shave from the brand Weleda, which makes decent natural products. I've always avoided the alcohol after shaves as they are more drying but this one is just fine!

It has a smooth milk liquidy lotion consistency, with a pleasing gentle herbal scent that goes away after about 45 mins. It is subtle and not overpowering.

Some key ingredients that stood out to me: Aloe, glycerine, Shea butter, Chamomile extract, Myrrh extract. Im a professional medical herbalist, and the use of the chamomile and myrrh in particular are what drew me to this product. Chamomile has notable anti inflammatory properties and would certainly calm the skin, amongst other benefits. Myrrhs use in skin healing and cell regeneration topically is well noted.

I tend to focus on more "natural" after shaves without many nasties in them as its absorbed rather than washed off.
This balm is quite awesome, I found it cooling, and very soothing to my sensitive skin post shave. The alcohol didn't bother me at all and my face feels very smooth and refreshed.

Highly recommended for those seeking a more "clean" aftershave .. For those that don't do well with alcohol AS , this one might be the exception for you!

I am very happy with this one .. and it will be a regular in my lineup alongside the other 3 "natural" winners I use :)

Weleda After Shave balm is one of my favorite balms. It is actually a milk, as you also noted.
Excellent balm, in my experience. I have a new bottle that will start next.
Another notable fact is the expiry date that is stated on packaging. Very few products have that. The reason for the expiry date could be that the balm does not have many preservatives. It also shows that the manufacturer cares about their product and wants best experience for us.

Expiry is usually not accurate and mostly legal requirement in many cases. The 2nd ingredient is alcohol in this product so its well preserved and in the end it has a whole host of terpenes that also lend to preservation , in addition to Benzyl Benzoate (preservative) and lactic and citric acid to control PH likely.

Not sure about the manufacturer caring as it may be a legal requirement of sorts or maybe just icing on the cake haha :)

all in all a great product!!

As a herbalist you probably have more information about the accuracy of the expiry date on the Weleda products. You probably know that this is a requirement for Weleda aftershave. I don't.

if you like this one try the Speick product below, it is also a milk type consistency and very nice !

I've been using it for a few months and it does a great job for me. I find the scent pairs well with the Speick cologne.

I love the Weleda balm, it has a fresh medicinal herbal smell, essential oils style, that mix well with other soaps and after shave. The soothing effect is efficient, the bottle is beautiful but the label is (imho) hideous, it looks better without.

Yea i think this is now my absolute favourite after shave of all.. and for those not in the know .. if you are a fan of the Proraso green "path" substitute this for the balm after you use their splash for an "alternate finish" as opposed to the proraso green balm. I think it works better :)

The Weleda after shave is very unique in its myrrh extract component which works very well for wound healing, in addition to its notable use of chamomile constituents and i think it has a higher eucalyptus oil content than the proraso from the smell

I have mixed feelings about this one. Ingredients are nice, smells good, feels great, but if I get any micro cuts when shaving, that balm opens them up..
