Rasage Poulin Problems

Hey guys, I'm new to the fourms and was hoping to get into the safety razor thing a few weeks ago but the package I bought from Rasage Poulin was miss-delivered.

Now I totally understand that has nothing to do with Scott but due to Canada Post's policy I need him to speak with them to get my moolah / product replaced.

I've tried to contact him for the last two weeks straight. I have called daily, left an e-mail, a voice message, and even a facebook message but have not had any reply... No one has picked up the phone for two weeks.

Just wondering if anyone knows if he's on vacation or has a family illness he is tending to... anything really. I'm a little lost as to how to contact him as I've tried everything save going to the bloody store. Too bad it isnt in my city.

Thanks in advance.

Edit: Just noticed now that the website has been updated to reflect that the store will be closed from December 24 2010 - January 2, 2011... The update wasnt there yesterday. How am I getting missed here if they are updating the webpage?!

Hey there... welcome to B&B. You might stop by the newbie forum too if you have some spare time, and say hi to everyone.

Sorry you are having problems with the vendor. I have been to their site several times, but have never ordered anything from them. I hope everything works out for you. Keep us posted.

Maybe someone else here who has dealt with the vendor can vouch for them.

Thanks for the help guys, turns out its been a crappy couple of weeks and Scott was having tech problems with stuff.

He's a great vendor from what I've read so I definately dont want this thread to reflect badly on him by any means... just circumstance so dictated that there was a bit of a difficult time trying to get in contact with him.

Cheers!

Edit: oh and if anyone has troubles in the next bit while he's fixing things you might want to try to pm him here. He responded in like 2 hrs.

Glad that got cleared up. I have never had to have anything shipped from Scott, but he has been nothing but a delight to all those in the Calgary area who have stopped by his place or dealt with him. I do not know of a single complaint about him.
Excellent vendor in my opinion.

Glad to hear it worked out for you. I didn't even realize he was a member here... or maybe I did, but didn't realize he was the Rasage Poulin guy.

Anyway... glad it worked out for you. :thumbup1:

Jace,

Welcome to the forum. I'm glad you were able to contact Scott, and hopefully get your porblem resolved. I have to say that your first post was a classy one. You detailed your issue, and asked for some assistance, rather than trashing a vendor outright without using the resources available through the forum to help solve your problem.
Good luck with the wet shaving. Don't hesitate to post any questions on the forum. There is an amazing community here that is eager to help.

Hello,

My husband purchased a razor last year from Scott. This razor is great!

The razor has rusted some how and I know it was not due to abusement of the razor. My husband takes really good care for his razor he has a special cloth he puts it on and everything. I don't know how this razor rusted but he cannot used it now.

We tried hard to look for Scott's number in all our old cells and had no luck then we finally found Scott's website.

My husband never had any issues with Scott he said he is such a nice person and a great guy to deal with.

We tried contacting Scott first by phone and left a message, since it was on a Friday and his only is open Tuesday to Thursday we waited and gave him time. When Wednesday evening rolled by we emailed him thinking perhaps his number has changed or something.

When we did not get a response at all we then decided to make the long trip to his house. We live in Chestmere so traveling to Beddington is not just a short trip for us. When we went there his brother told us he was not home so we left our phone number with him.

Well my husband had to get another razor and preferrably wanted to get is from Scott but we did not realize you could just get it sharpened. So my cousin decided to purchase a razor as well but found a supplier in the states and they were willing to give us a discount if we pruchased two razors.

Since we could not get a hold of Scott we went with the US supplier and now as per the garatnee information my husband got with his razor he would like to get his money back.

My husband was finally in contact with Scott last week and Scott agreed to refund his money and decided that my husband can go and pick up his refund Monday afternoon.

When my husband went on Monday afternoon no one answered the door, so he tried calling Scott and got nothing.

Then we realized that Scott is not open on Monday's as per his website so my husband went on Tuesday. Still no one answered and no one was answering the phone.

It is now Wednesday and we really don't want to make another trip to his house and we cannot get a hold of him at all.

I have heard great things about Scott that he is a great guy and vendor! so I am hoping he will come through and respond to us.

Any suggestions on what we should do would be great!

Thank you for taking the time out to read my post.

Hi, welcome to B&B.
One thing you may want to look at, apparently Scott's software has a lot of trouble being marked as spam on hotmail's servers, and i think comcast(..?). So if you're using a hotmail address, check your "safe list" in case he's been replying to no avail.
Keep in mind you should probably be setting up appointments with him instead of showing up at his house, while he is running a business, you should also know that it's his private home.
It's also likely a manufacturer's warranty on the razor, so you may want to go straight to the horse's mouth on that one.
I've dealt with Scott on a few occasions and I find he does a great job of ensuring customer satisfaction. Best of luck in getting your husband's razor restored/refunded.

Welcome to B&B!

I would advise to try and contact him here on B&B via Private Messages (PM), Scott is a member and I can see he was active today. His username is Poulin. Best of luck!

If the razor has rusted it is your husbands fault, a carbon steal blade is very prone to rust if not cared for properly, and his misshandling of the razor is no ones fault but your husbands. I am shocked that you would try and get a free blade because you misstreated yours, and then to come on this website and try and flame a respected vendor in my opinion is dispicable!

sunshine,

Unfortunately, rusting is not caused be a defect of the razor, but as mentioned a few times its from excessive moisture being in contact with the razor, whether thats from not drying it well enough or leaving it exposed to the elements in the bathroom. I agree it can be frustrating to have this happen as new razors are quite expensive. However I don't think you have much of a case to blame the vendor for the rust.

I would strongly recommend reappraising the way the razor is dried and kept while not in use. If it's left with ANY amount of water, or left exposed to moisture in the bathroom (other people showering etc...) you will start to see problems.

Regardless of the difficulties getting in touch with the vendor, if he has agreed to return the product I feel hes gone FAR above and beyond and it goes to speak very highly of his service.

Just my two cents. Disclaimer: Other than being a one time (and future) customer I'm not associated in any way with the vendor.

two weeks ago I tried to get in contact with him and it was really impossible. I phoned, e-mailed and sended a pm. finally I received a short answer by e-mail. I wanted to buy a Plisson brush but finally I didn't

I've been having a multitude of problems as well.

I paid for sharpening service, shipping was redirected at canada post. Either scott has an old address on the site, or something went wrong. Either way, he shut down the site, does not answer emails or voicemails or private messages here. Having paid for a service not performed, and not receiving any contact on it is incredibly disspointing, after reading such nice reviews about Rassage Poulin.

At this point, i may never see my blade again. Canada post is trying to locate it. And as for getting a refund for services not rendered, i'm not holding my breath anymore.

Paying Rassage Poulin was a mistake. I understand if you are having trouble shipping, but closing down the site, with no explanation other than ONE line on the home page, and not answering someone who's already paid you?

I do not know how such customer service is expected to succeed....

Ordered some goods 1 week ago. Still no shipping info sent. So yesterday I send a mail to Scott, hopefully everything will be ok. I also had ordered some goods form shavingstyle.com which is also in Canada and because of the canadian post problems they sent my order with purolator. I received my package quickly with no problems. Maybe Scott too could use purolator.

Rasage Poulin has left a terrible taste in my mouth.

Sent my razor for Honing over 2 months ago.
He lied outright to my gf when she asked about when it would be returned.
He refuses to answer my email or phone calls.
He has shut down his site for a third time.

Scott is a theif, stealing the fee for the honing, the return shipping, and in the end stealing my departed grandfathers razor.

The rub is that i don't know what i can do to force the issue and have my property returned!
