Terry Jones will mostly be remembered as an actor and member of Monty Python's Flying Circus, but he was also an historian. If you haven't read Terry Jones' Medieval Lives, which he wrote with Alan Ereia, I highly recommend it. His TV version is good, too, if you can find it. Also check out The Story of 1. That was a TV series about the history of numbers.
I agree about Jones and Palin being very interesting "post-Python." My personal favorite Jones is "we use only the finest baby frogs, dew-picked and flown from Iraq, cleansed in the finest quality spring water, lightly killed, and sealed in a succulent, Swiss, quintuple-smooth, treble-milk chocolate envelope, and lovingly frosted with glucose."
LONDON – The world is in mourning today after it was announced that Terry Jones, distinguished actor, director, writer, and member of the beloved comedy team Monty Python, has finally made the final journey to that great giant foot in the sky.
