Question about Trumpers Skin food.

I ordered a sample pack from GFT and when it arrived I quickly put it to work. I have been using Proraso pre/post for my pre shave and my aftershave. Love the way it leaves my skin feeling. Seems to me though that if I use just a tad to much it leaves my face feeling almost oily. Anyway I was eager to try the skin food as an aftershave but after using it for a few days it doesn't really change my life. I think it does a better job at balancing my skin and leaving it dry and moisturized without feeling oily but my face just doesn't feel as fresh as it does with the Proraso. I dry my face after rinsing with cold water and then apply my aftershave. Any thoughts from you guys that use this? Do you feel the same way or do you use anything after using the skin food? I'd like to have the best of both world's but I think Im going to have to pick one or the other.

I really like the Trumpers West Indian Lime 'flavour'.

My post shave routine is generally a swipe with the alum block, a little witch hazel, then the skin food on the days on which I use it. I don't wash my face after I use it I just rub it in really well. I'll usually put a balm on over it where I have shaved (I use the skin food as a moisturiser when I use it but my face still needs a balm where I've shaved).

Question on the Proraso pre/post - I use this as a pre-shave treatment and I like it fairly well. I probably prefer the green tea & wheat to the menthol & eucalyptus. On both jars I have it is describes as a Pre shave product. I see it referenced as pre/post here a lot but that doesn't seem to be how it describes itself ? I tried mine as a post shave but it really did not do much for me in terms of either smell or finish. I felt my skin was a touch oily, and the menthol one had an absolutely over-powering odour as a post-shave product.

I use either Dermalogica for men (my favourite) or Proraso Green Tea & Wheat (very acceptable and slightly cheaper substitute).

I'm not sure how well they'd work together. I think the skin food protects after a shave better, but the white creams tend to work a bit like moisturizers. Maybe try a separate moisturizer at a different time of day from the skin food.

I struggle to think of anything that feels as fresh as proraso! I doubt there are any moisturizers that will have quite that effect. If the skin food isn't doing anything for you now, maybe try it in a few months? I know quite a few people who find their skin changes with the seasons, so if a skincare product is "almost but not quite" now, it might work a little better when weather has changed (or what SiBurning said...).

I'll sometimes use the Proraso as a post shave (every day as a pre-), especially if my face is feeling a little burned. However, I find the scent too powerful to use it regularly as an ASB. It overpowers my cologne.
