I knew I was going to have a little lunch break so I threw the fishing pole in the car. I used a rubber shad and caught my first Spanish mackerel in Matlacha Pass. Pretty fish!
 
Caught another one today in two casts and brought it home. Spanish mackerel makes for a nice sashimi dish. After filleting the fish, my wife added sesame oil, chili sesame oil, ponzu, black vinegar, seaweed flakes, and sesame seeds.

What was that weight on that one ?

I had no idea you got Dolphin that far North.
I've seen some being caught in the PNW which is rare given water temp in the mid 50s.

We're seeing an influx here North of Baja with our temps - I've seen 77*

96” the core was 340# so probably ~450# live weight

We get Mahi when the water temps warms above 72* offshore, I believe it was around 75-77* when we got that one.
