This reminds me of how they fish for prize Uluas in Hawaii, maybe from not so high...Nothing caught, but here is a photo of two gentlemen fishing in Sagres.View attachment 1789691

Nice! Someone's been busy.I just came back from a fishing trip to Lake Okeechobee Florida. The wind was horrible and it made fishing difficult. Our trips were cut short by the weather. Nevertheless, here some phots of the catch: crappie, catfish, and bass.

It is a very mild-tasting fish. When I lived in Arizona I fished at a lake that had stripers in it. The fresh water variety, imho, was milder tasting in contrast to the salt water variety.@ackvil - looks like one heck of a fish fry
I have eaten Calicos, Stripers, and Sand Bass - never eaten LMB
Thanks for posting this. Reminds me of my Dad. Miss him every single day. All he would ever fish with was a cane pole. He was something else. And one of my grandfather on that day. I have that cane which I converted into a hiking stick.

Take him out ASAP. That mudroom will still be there..... That 10 year old will be 20 and towering over you as quick as you can blink. It happened to me, trust me.I'm in northern New Mexico, still pretty cold here this week but hoping to get lines wet with my son (10) here in a couple weeks. would go this weekend but I'm drywalling a mudroom we added to the house.
I think the taste of most fish carry an influence of their environment(s).It is a very mild-tasting fish. When I lived in Arizona I fished at a lake that had stripers in it. The fresh water variety, imho, was milder tasting in contrast to the salt water variety.
Heavy post. My father, 84, had told me that the fishing we do this season will be the last fishing we do. I understand and I knew it was coming. Thanks for posting this. Reminds me of my Dad. Miss him every single day. All he would ever fish with was a cane pole. He was something else.

I genuinely hope it's a productive fishing day. There are few things that resonate with me more than taking your little ones out for a day of fishing.Didn't cast in this weekend, but I did happen on a new spot that I'm excited for.
Even better, my little princess is excited to wet a line - fingers crossed for Sunday morning
Just getting out there and me being fortunate enough to deckhand for them is already the winning hand.I genuinely hope it's a productive fishing day. There are few things that resonate with me more than taking your little ones out for a day of fishing.
I know that as parents we try to find the most comfortable and productive spot (most of us). I would be over the moon if my next grandchild hooked up with a few little pan fish on their first time out.
From my experience it's a lesson in patience for all parties involved.
Regardless of fish caught my hat is tipped to you @ChriWilson . I hope it's a lovely day and I envy you time spent with your daughter. It's cliche to say that "it goes by too fast", but that is the truth of the matter. Soak up every moment and take some pictures. (and post them.)
Right back at ya !Hits even closer to home as I'm very likely to be taking my last fishing day with my dad (85) this year... Fortunately I have a few spots where a folding chair needs to be walked 8 feet to be set up. A pontoon boat is also a big possibility.
Catch a lunker all!
