I have been contacted by a very generous B&B'er (who wishes to remain anonymous) who has offered to PIF one of you lucky chaps all you need to enter our latest Gold Dollar competition.

He is offering to PIF a Gold Dollar, choice of scale material, pins, washers etc, with the condition that the claimant finishes a razor for this contest. So if you want in, you are on your honour to make use of this bounty, and to make the bestest razor you can for us all to see.

The scale & wedge material he has is the following:

Transparent blue acrylic
Transparent red acrylic
Transparent amber acrylic
Transparent green acrylic
Solid red acrylic

This would come with 1/16" brass pin material, washers, and one stock Gold Dollar razor.

If you need any instructions on what is involved, have a look here.

So, if you want in, just say so in this thread. I will draw the winners name out of a hat in two days from now, and PM them for their mailing details, which I will forward to the generous donor.

Good luck!

this is awesome!!!! and i want to thank the individual for the generosity.
my problem is,,, I SUCK. i tried to modify a GD once, and it was horrid! but i have no idea what im doing.

and of course theres a link to probably all and any info. i would need, or could ask for.:a30:............i have no excuse.

That is most gracious! Good luck to the winner. Try me next year and I may be ready.
You will out the winner, won't you?
Regards,
Bil

Oh, this sounds great! Count me in!

I'm going to have to withdraw, as it seems this will require a fair amount of equipment/supplies I don't have (yet).

Great idea, though!

UPDATE!

I have just been contacted by a second generous anonymous PIF'er, offering his help to get you started on the path to Gold Dollar glory.

"David,

If I may, I propose to add another PIF for the GD challenge, but I will add wood for scales instead.

I will send a booked and matched set of rectangular wood scales of their choice ready for shaping, pins, washers, wedge material (also wood), a Gold Dollar Razor already removed from the plastic scales unless they want it with the scales still on."

So, your chances to win one of these has just doubled! Two kits now up for grabs, folks! Don't be shy!

Edited: due to recent time constraints and being unsure if Ihave the razor know- how I think I'll have to skip this timearound.

Very generous pifs here though, I'd love to participate but don't know that I'm ready this time around.

I'm going to keep an anxious eye on this! I have never shaved anything more than a patch on my arm with a No. 80 Jung, let alone built or modified one, but it looks like a really cool project! Man, that transparent green acrylic sounds really cool too. Do you have a picture of it?

If he showed a picture of it, he wouldn't be anonymous any more, would he?

Geez, I'm glad you are not the police commissioner for Gotham City. "Quick boys, shine the Bruce Wayne symbol on that cloud! S!@#!, I mean.... "

Great PIF guys, good on the generous ppl behind all this.
See this is what makes a site like this, ppl helping each other out, its great to see!

Jump in guys, don't be afraid, its art and regardless of how it turns out, its FUN.

I'm supplied, please don't include me, but good on ya's.

Great PIF, I'll give it a miss as we have a new baby due in a couple of weeks and I have a weeks residential course at work :( good luck guys, looking forward to seeing your creations!

I would love to participate but I'm afraid the 2nd part of the competition is a problem for me. I don't have any hones. Good luck in the comp to the winner!

After reading the previous thread for the GD competition, I would like to enter. I was hoping to enter anyway but I'm not sure if my materials will make it in time.

Is there any way the winner could paypal the PIF donor some scratch for a faster shipping option? I'm concerned about snail mail and still having time to work on the contest.
