OTC wetshave products....sos....help...

Hello guys,
Here is something I know no other way of asking.
I have read and read, this board to sharpen my knowledge on the subject of wet shaving....etc

I own 2 types of shaving soaps, im happy with them they are
VDH deluxe, and Williams.

I would like to ask you guys other than obvious aftershave products, and avalible DE blades.
Are there any wet shaving Soaps or products worth trying??
Puk or tube, that are available over the counter??
The stores close to me are the following
Walmart,CVS,dollar general,Kroger,walgreens

I ask because I believe there is a tube of shaving-cream, not (spray can poop....lol), that is available but I don't know what the name of the products are nor the looks of their packaging.
My reasoning for my belief of something I have missed, is that I believe I read it on B&B, I just cant find the post, it seems like I read it more than once....
I would like to try anything I can lay my hands on.........
Sharpen up a Newbie.......please......
...........thanks..........Russell

There are 3 versions of VDH. Deluxe, Glycerin, and Select. I've only seen the Deluxe at Wal-Mart but the other two can be had elsewhere. I think I saw Select at a CVS IIRC. If you have a health food store such as Henry's or Whole Foods they usually have KMF creams. Henry's also has the Herban Cowboy line but I've heard the soap is poor. YMMV of course. Ivy Club at Dollar General is supposed to be awesome. CVS has the same thing for a heck of a lot more dollars.

VDH. Select
VDH. Glycerin
Ivy Club at Dollar General

Added to shopping list thanks for your help.
Question, Ivy Club, is this possibly sold as a regular soap??, I ask because I have been to 3 differant D.G.'s, and they really don't have anything in the way of wet shaving..

I feel like there is a cream, in a tube sold at walmart, that is worth trying, I just don't know the name, or packaging......thanks, I learned of the 3 types of VDH soaps, and the IVY club, these I wasn't aware of.

My goal with this post is to get what I can locally, then figure a onlive retailer that can cover the other items......thanks Sir

Unfortunately, there's not that much that's available OTC that's really worthwhile. Contact Ray (thirdeye) or one of the other vendors here at B&B and they can get you hooked up with some really great soaps like Tabac, Arlington, MWF, etc.

If you have an Art of Shaving or a Nordstrom near you, you can buy the AOS shaving soap over the counter. It's pricey, but it's just about as good as it gets.

Good luck!

I can relate.

We live in a tiny town of 5,000 and although we have our own CVS drugstore, it doesn't carry any wet shaving supplies except for a single puck of Williams. Even Walmart is a haul for me, being 15+ miles away.

Surprisingly, I've gone further afield and discovered that hardly any major stores in our region carry wet shaving supplies. Lots of beauty stuff for women and lots of scents for men, but a virtual desert of wet shaving products. My only real solution has been to go online.

If you like menthol, pick up a bottle of Headslick shaving cream by Headblade. It's very easy to lather with a brush and performs admirably.

If there happens to be a Bath and Body Works (yea, the same one that sells all the women smell good stuff), they have the C.O. Bigelow shaving cream.

Nivea extra sensitive AS balm is excellent. The SC in tube is supposed to be good. My local CVS carries Real Shaving Co. products. They are made by Creightons, makers of the 3 T's.

The Real Shaving Company stuff is found at Rite Aid.

I like in a town of 3,500. Forgot the OTC stuff (except for a couple of exceptions).... get it off the internet.

Thanks guys,
you have confirmed my thoughts...only a few items
are available OTC, so my list of neat things you all mention is in order via the internet.......Im gonna look for the above mentioned AS balm, make sure I have a spare puk of whats available,in case the stores, cut that out eventually as well.........thanks guys,............Russell

-Rite Aid has "The Real Shaving Company" shaving creams, which are made by the same people who make TOBS, and has the same quality as TOBS but at 1/3 of the cost. $5.00 per tube.

-Your local Kroger probably stocks the "Kiss My Face Moisture Shave" unscented version. Check the natural foods section of your Kroger, mine has it for roughly $6 for an huge 11oz container.

-Bath and Body Works has "C.O. Bigelow Premium Shaving Cream" which is the exact same thing as Proraso. It's $5/10 per tube depending on size.

-If you have a Crabtree, and Evelyn nearby, they stock a couple of shaving soaps, and shaving creams that are top quality.

-You might have an Art of Shaving store nearby. They make really good quality shaving creams, and soaps. They also sell razors, but they have a huge markup.

-If there are any Indian grocers nearby, they usually stock the top quality Godrej shaving creams, which will cost very little.
